STOP Lifting Your Head When Side Breathing!

Are you lifting your head when you breathe to the side?

This is one of the most common mistakes beginners make when learning freestyle swimming.

When you breathe to the side, keep your ear close to your shoulder and your head close to your arm. If your head moves away from your arm, your body position can break down and your arm can move out to the side.

Keep your head low and make side breathing smoother.

Fix This Breathing Mistake to Swim Faster

Struggling to keep your pull strong when you turn to breathe? The fix is your head position. Keep your head low, turn (don't lift) to breathe, and keep the lead arm steady so your pull stays powerful on both sides.

Scared of Deep Water? Watch This

What happens when you let all the air out of your lungs underwater? You sink.

If you ever panic in deep water, the lesson is to remember that having air in your chest can help with buoyancy. Try to stay calm, go still, and use a small paddle or kick if needed.

This is an important swimming tip for beginners, especially if you're learning how to float, control your breathing, and become more comfortable in deep water.

⚠️ Practice swimming and floating skills with appropriate supervision and never rely on buoyancy alone in an emergency.

This Makes Freestyle Breathing SO Much Easier

Struggling with freestyle side breathing? One common beginner mistake is pulling the lead arm down while turning to breathe.

When you start swimming freestyle, keep that arm out in front instead of pulling it down during the breath. This gives you a better position to balance, kick, and breathe.

Do your legs sink when you're floating on your back?

Here's a simple beginner swimming tip that can help bring your legs back toward the surface. Try bending your knees slightly. If your legs have dropped really low, bring one knee toward your belly, then the other.

This simple adjustment can help beginner swimmers feel more comfortable and confident while practicing back floating and kicking.

Beginners: DON'T Do This When Floating

One of the most common mistakes beginner swimmers make is trying to push their head too far back.

Just because you can lean further doesn't mean you should! 😅

The goal is simple: keep your chin higher than your FOREHEAD so don't overdo it.

Small adjustments can make a huge difference when learning to relax and feel comfortable in the water.
