Tonight during my secondary reading I finished “The Need To Lead,” by Dave Berke. This book is the 3rd in the series offered by the instructors of Following “Extreme Ownership” and “The Dichotomy of Leadership’” this book expands on the Laws of Combat and the related principles. This book is outstanding. Read this book.

Tonight, during my secondary reading, I finished “Revenge of the Tipping Point,” by Malcolm Gladwell. I struggled with this one…not because of the content or theme… but because I was so distracted by other things that it was hard to pay attention to proper amount of attention to this book…and this book deserves proper attention. We’re living in a world of increasingly important tipping points that are occurring with both more frequency and increased rapidity. We need to be better at seeing them coming. Read this book.

Last night during my recreational reading I finished “Dark Angel,” by John Sandford. This was my 2nd Letty Davenport novel. They’re growing on me.

Tonight during my recreational reading I finished “The Investigator,” by John Sandford. I’m not going to lie. This one troubled me. Based on my personal experience, I felt like the author was sloppy and inexact. However, before I condemned him, I did a little research. It turns out he might be a little more current in fi****ms and surveillance technology than I am, and I was wrong in my criticism. There are a couple of other titles in this series. I might have to check them out.

Tonight, during my recreational reading I finished “Beyond the Truth,” by Bruce Robert Coffin. This law enforcement mystery novel is set in Portland , ME and features the PPD Criminal Investigations Division. I taught some classes for PPD back in the day, so this one came with a touch of nostalgia. It was a gift from a long-time friend and I’m sorry I put off reading it so long.

Tonight during my recreational reading I finished “The Measure,” by Nikki Erich. This definitely isn’t a title I would have found on my own. It was recommended by my bride and a couple of friends. So, despite my reservations I agreed to read it. I was apprehensive at first…not exactly my cup of tea. However, once I met the characters I was drawn in and compelled to follow their journeys. It’s thought provoking and extremely well written. It’s also particularly germane to the time we’re living through. Check it out if you want to challenge some of your own assumptions

Last week I had the unbelievable opportunity to serve as staff for ‘s inaugural LEO Immersion Camp. From Tuesday through Friday nearly 100 participants received high-level instruction in Defensive Tactics and Jiu-jitsu from an amazing slate of instructors. They also received leadership training from of . On top of that we received keynotes from Justin Dodge and Paul Taylor, PhD.

I’m humbled and honored to have been able to stand alongside these legends and I learned a lot.

Tonight, after dinner and setting up the cabin, I finished listening to “Under Saturn’s Shadow-The Wounding and Healing of Men.” I really wish I had found this title earlier. This one contains some tough lessons.

This was a quick trip south to spend another day with Gainesville Police Department-Down on Sunday, facilitated yesterday, traveling home today. There was some travel drama on the way down, but I’ll keep this post positive. This was a wonderful group that is excited to help lead some change within their agency. It was an honor and privilege to work with them.
