On June 6th Y’s all over the world celebrated Founder’s Day!

On this date in 1844, George Williams and 11 other young men held a meeting in London that would lead to the founding of the YMCA.

For 182 years, the Y has worked to strengthen communities – creating the first group swim classes, spearheading the first English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, and addressing chronic disease through programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program and our Healthy Weight and Your Child Program.

The Plattsburgh YMCA was founded not to long after in 1887. We're excited to celebrate this milestone and for what the future holds as we continue strengthening communities.

Join us for the 24th Annual On Course for a Cause Golf Tournament and Larry Jeffords Memorial Cup presented by and benefiting the Plattsburgh YMCA on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Adirondack Golf & Country Club.

Every swing, putt, and raffle ticket helps strengthen our community and supports programs that make a lasting impact on the lives of local children, families, adults, and seniors.

💦🌊 FREE Water Safety Program for Kids! 🌊💦

Give your child the skills and confidence they need to stay safe around water this summer!

The Plattsburgh YMCA is offering a FREE Safety Around Water program for children ages 4–12 from June 23–26 at our Oak Street pool. Through four one-hour classes, participants will learn essential water safety skills, build confidence in and around the water, and have fun in a supportive environment.
