Rochester State Meet has started and Tuna Swimmers are on the podium! Congratulations! Go Tunas!

TUNA wrapped up an outstanding weekend at the 2026 Minnesota Senior Long Course State Championships, competing against many of Minnesota’s fastest senior and collegiate swimmers. Throughout the four-day championship, our athletes advanced to championship, consolation, and bonus finals, earned top-eight finishes, posted numerous lifetime bests, and helped TUNA finish 13th overall with 678 team points.

Mason Krings earned a bronze medal in the 50-meter Breaststroke with a lifetime best of 29.41. His swim also achieved the USA Swimming Summer Junior National qualifying standard, one of the nation’s premier championship meet standards. Mason also qualified for five individual finals during the meet, including a 6th-place finish in the 200 Breaststroke (2:26.29) and a 7th-place finish in the 50 Butterfly (25.82).

Other standout performances included:

* Paige Krings – Qualified for four individual finals, finishing 10th in the 200 IM (2:29.12), 12th in the 200 Breaststroke (2:48.85), 12th in the 400 IM (5:18.02), and 15th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:18.81). She also posted a lifetime best of 36.94 in the 50 Breaststroke, dropping nearly a second from her 37.91 seed time.
* Lucia Freed – Reached three individual finals, highlighted by a lifetime best 1:01.58 in the 100 Freestyle after improving from 1:01.82 in prelims. She also earned finals swims in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke while contributing to five TUNA A relays.
* Alex Kosel – Three finals appearances, highlighted by a 4.05-second improvement in the 400 Freestyle (4:24.65 → 4:20.60).
* Linnea Brandt – Qualified for the 200 Breaststroke final and recorded one of the team’s biggest improvements of the meet, dropping 20.91 seconds in the 1500 Freestyle (19:02.27 → 18:41.36).
* Madi Ivory – Lowered her 50 Breaststroke by 1.90 seconds (38.52 → 36.62) to qualify for the finals.
* Dante Framke – Reached three individual finals, including a 14th-place finish in the 50 Backstroke.
* Wesley Anderson – Qualified for finals in both breaststroke events, finishing 13th in the 50 Breaststroke (30.65) and 16th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:10.72).
* Maya Fadlalla – Advanced to the finals in the 50 Freestyle and was a key contributor on several top-10 relay teams.

Our relay teams continued to showcase TUNA’s depth. The men’s 200 Medley Relay placed 5th, while the 800 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay both finished 7th. On the women’s side, the 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay each earned 10th-place finishes, with several additional relay teams placing in the top 15.

This past weekend, some of our youngest Tuna swimmers competed at the Rochester Aquatic Center in the 10 and Under Long Course State Championships. It was a phenomenal weekend with many personal bests, new state and zone times, and record breaking relay swims. Even more importantly.... swimmers, families and coaches had a blast on and off the pool deck.

Some highlights from the weekend:

Girls 8U Relay (Emma, Matilda, Lanaya, Finley) swam hard and placed 11th and 10th!

Boys 8U Medley (Advaith, Isaac, Sullivan, Jackson) podiumed with 6th!

Girls 9-10 Medley (Eiley, Leilani, Bridget, Lucy; alternate Harper) podiumed with 2nd!

Mixed 9-10 Medley A (Seb, Leilani, Bridget, Wyatt) podiumed with 2nd!

Boys 8U Free Relay (Jackson, Sullivan, Isaac, Advaith) podiumed with 7th!

Girls 9-10 Free Relay (Eiley, Lucy, Bridget, Leilani; alternate Harper) podiumed with a Tuna 9-10 girls record breaking time in 1st place, and also the first time a Tuna relay team has taken home the Gold in more than 25-30 years! It was a fight to the very end until Leilani Hill out touched Aquajet anchor right at the wall!

Mixed 9-10 Free Relay (Leilani, Seb, Eiley, Wyatt) podiumed once again with a championship 1st place win! This was yet another exciting finish with anchor Wyatt Zavala once again in a battle against the Aquajets anchor and holding the team's lead all the way to the wall!

Seb Gallant took home 1st place individual high point for 9-10 boys. He podiumed in 1st place with the Gold medal IN ALL 7 individual events that he swam in!! (50 fly, 50 back, 400 free, 50 free, 100 fly, 100 back, 200 free)

Leilani Hill took home 2nd place individual high point for 9-10 girls. She podiumed in 1st place with the Gold medal in the 50 back and 100 back, and took home 2nd place in 100 free, 50 fly, 100 breast, 50 free and 50 breast!

Eiley Carlson (9-10 girls) podiumed with 2nd place in 50 back and 3rd place in 100 back!

Bridget Thayer (9-10 girls) podiumed with 5th place in 50 fly and 5th place in 100 fly!

Isaac Scharfbillig (8U boys) podiumed with 6th place in 50 back!

The Tuna team took home 2nd place overall in the AA Division!

On behalf of the entire 10 and under Tuna team, parents, families and swimmers, we also wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to the coaches who literally put their blood, sweat and tears into this weekend. The excitement from all of them watching the swimmers excel made it clear to everyone how dedicated they are to our athletes and that it goes way beyond just the swimming for them. Thank you to Lindsey, Jeremy, Maggie, Katie and Shannon. 💙🩷

Tuna officials, parents and families - thank you for your support for not only your own swimmer but for cheering on others and the team as well. This is definitely one of many ways that the Tuna team stands out amongst the rest and what makes swimming for Tuna so special.
