This time of year can be especially lonely for many people.
I pray that your Christmas and holiday season is filled with peace, hope, and love.
And may the new year meet you with clarity, strength, and grace. đâ¤ď¸

The people in Zimbabwe greeted us with radiant smiles long before a word was spoken.
Each glance said, âI see you.â I connected with some amazing people.
Connection always begins in the unseen momentsâbefore meetings, before agendas, before outcomes.
Micro-moments build trust.
How do you show your team theyâre seen?
Try This Week: Greet every team member by name and with eye contact. Notice how the atmosphere shifts.

Every great team shares one quiet habit â they notice before they act.
Awareness, not authority, creates alignment.
Thatâs why I always say: sometimes alignment begins with noticing â not planning.
Awareness isnât passive â itâs a team skill that builds rhythm, trust, and adaptability.
These five Active Awareness Plays are simple, practical ways any team can strengthen alignment in real time.
1ď¸âŁ 90-Second Room Read â Scan the room for energy (1â5). Adjust the agenda or add a quick connection moment.
2ď¸âŁ Name the Signal â When things feel off, say what you notice to bring clarity and reset focus.
3ď¸âŁ Mentor Leadership by Passing the Rope Forward â Help the next person take the lead.
4ď¸âŁ Tempo Change â Match the moment; shift rhythm when focus fades.
5ď¸âŁ Debrief Trio â Reflect together: What did we notice? What did we learn? What will we change next time?
Awareness is the first act of collaboration.
Which of these awareness plays does your team already use â and which one could make the biggest difference?

đ Playing Team Sports Was My First Lesson in Inclusion and Collaboration
In just two days, Iâll be inducted into the Jordan Vocational High School Hall of Fame for Athletics.
While the recognition is an honor, what truly matters to me are the lessons team sports taught meâlessons that have shaped my entire approach to working with work teams today:
Everybody has a voice â the quiet player, the starter, the one on the bench⌠every perspective matters.
Inclusion builds trust â when people feel seen and valued, they give their best.
Collaboration is a skill â itâs not automatic; itâs practiced, refined, and built over time.
Understanding how people operate is key â the better you know your teammates, the better you can work together.
From my mom, I learned faithâto believe in myself and other people and their potential.
From my grandma, I learned serviceâto put people first and lift others up.
At Base Camp Emerge, these same principles drive my work. I help teams move beyond just âworking togetherâ to creating environments where every voice is heard, inclusion is intentional, and collaboration is second nature.
So yesâthis Hall of Fame honor celebrates my past on the court.
But more than that, itâs a reminder that the lessons I learned back then are still the heartbeat of how I show up today.
(Yes, that's the 17- and 18-year-old me. Lol)

This weekend, I took a walk down River Streetâand it never disappoints. The energy, the people, the aroma of food and fresh candy, the street music (even some a ca****la!), and all the sights⌠Itâs such a rich experience. This 10-second collage is just a small glimpse into what I felt. Hope it brings you a little joy too.
