[12/11/17]   Have A Vintage Snowmobile And Need A Replacement Track?

Finding a replacement track for your vintage snowmobile can be a pain. Its quite possible that there isnt a new replacement track available. Or, the price of a new replacement track is too expensive.

If that is the case, we suggest doing the following:

1. Go to Google and trying searching for topics related to getting a track. For example, replacement scorpian whip track, snowmobile salvage yard, snowmobile boneyard, etc... You get the idea.

2. Check ebay - You never know what you'll find there.

3. Check out your local snowmobile club - They might know someone with your exact sled sitting in their barn gathering dust.

4. Get on Facebook and try some searches - There might be a page covering your old sled.

If you're persistant, usually you can find a track for that old sled.

Snowmobile Track Inspection Video - What to Look for When Inspecting Your Snowmobile Track

One of the questions we receive quite often is, "what do I look for to determine whether my snowmobiles track needs to be replaced?" Well, there are several things to look for when inspecting your sleds track to determine whether it needs to be replaced. Listed are some common signs of wear to look for:

* Worn lugs - Worn lugs will hinder accelration and braking
* Dry rotting - The track will have tiny cracks in the material
* Worn or broken track clips - Broken guide clips will accelerate wear on the hyfaxes and cause a lack of performance
* Obvious damage - This includes tears, pulled through studs, shredding and more
* Worn or broken inner drive lugs - This condition can cause track slippage as well as can cause the track to come off

A worn track can present both safety and performance issues. You should inspect your sleds snowmobile periodically looking for signs of wear. If you any questions, need help in picking out the appropriate replacement track for your snowmobile and/or are ready to order call us at 607-693-1031 M-F 10am to 4pm EST or visit our sledtrack.com website 24/7.

Camoplast Storm 150 Snowmobile Tracks Review

The Camoplast Storm 150 series of snowmobile tracks are the newest line of snowmobile tracks from Camoplast. See more at https://www.sledtrack.com/camoplast-storm-snowmobile-tracks/

The Storm 150 tracks are unique in that they features a variable lug height ranging from an inner lug height of 1.5 inch to an outer lug height of 1.25 inch. This is a new concept in track design which is meant to provide deep snow flotation and excellent acceleration on packed trails as well as helping to provide extra control in turns.

The Camoplast Storm 150 is available in four models each having a different length and width. These are:

9368H - 120" X 15"
9369H - 129" X 15"
9370H - 137" X 15"
9371H - 146" X 15"

All of these tracks have a 2.86 pitch and are fully clipped. They also feature optimized support columns which provide lug rigidity and flex for performance across the entire power band.

The Storm series of tracks is target toward high performance riders. Camoplast says that the Storm track will out perform the Cobra and Ripsaw tracks in acceleration and braking.

If you have any questions or want to order one of the storm tracks visit our website Sledtrack.com or call the store at 607-693-1031 M-F 10am to 4pm EST. You can also visit us during regular hours. But please call ahead as our inventory changes rapidly.

Snowmobile Covers

Snowmobile Covers - What You Need To Know

In the market for a snowmobile cover for your sled? Trying to protect your sled from the elements when you're not riding? Here are some helpful tips we can provide you concerning shopping for your next cover.

To start with, you have your choice of either aftermarket or OEM covers. The main differences are that the OEM covers usually carry the brand name of the #snowmobile. Aftermarket covers are more generic in nature.

Second, do you desire a cover only for storing your sled inside and away from the elements? If so, a dust cover might do the job. These lightweight covers are meant for when you're parking your sled in an enclosed area like your garage.
Third, are you going to use this cover while trailering your sled? If thats the case, you're going to need a heavy duty cover, NOT a dust cover.

Fourth, get the right fitting cover for your snowmobile. This is were it can get tricky. Not only is there length and width to consider, but some of you with the 2 up sleds will need a cover that takes that into account as well.

Finally, do you want to cover the skis on your snowmobile too? A few OEM covers are going to cover the skis and for aftermarket covers, you'd need to choosing a Total Cover.

While we don't carry the OEM covers but we do carry a wide selection of aftermarket snowmobile covers. These include dust covers, universal fit covers in several sizes, custom fit covers (most popular) and Total covers.

You can see what cover we offer for your sled by visting our snowmobile covers department and then choosing your make of sled, then model, etc... If you get stumped, feel free to call our cover man Ken M-F 10am to 4pm. 1-800-394-8232.
