March 29 is National Vietnam Veterans day. Shout out to my Dad, Mike Coughlin, and approximately 7 million living Vietnam Veterans and the 10 million families of those who served during the Vietnam War period.

Welcome home!

What a race year (to forget). Finally got all the engine parts and enough time to get the car back together.

On the second testing pass, my .002 light was rewarded with the car shuddering and shutting off after going through the stripe. After shifting to neutral and coasting off track, I didn’t initially see any reason for the noise or car reaction (nothing hanging out the side of the block and no puddle of fluid under the car).

Was able to start the car again but had no forward or reverse gears.

After a long week, Thomas E Arthur and I finally had the chance to pull the trans out and take it apart (Shout out to Mike and Michael Garrison for all of your continued support! Greatly appreciated!)

Front pump issues / broken gear set / new converter is junk. Good times! See photos for details. Working on getting parts now.

Might end up racing my daily driver this weekend! 😂

That One Place Port Orchard

I grew up in the midwest. I spent my pre-Navy years in Minot ND. I was fortunate enough to spend a great deal of my childhood at the racetrack (NODAK Speedway and numerous other dirt tracks in the upper midwest). I tried to spend as many hours as possible in my Dad’s garage - handing him tools and generally getting in the way. For more than four decades, Dad was a racecar builder, a driver, an owner, a crew chief. He served on the Race Club Board and spent countless hours working at the track keeping equipment in-service. Most people will likely remember him as an IMCA Tech Inspector. His standards were high but fair and firm. For me, he’s my Dad, my mentor, my example, my sounding board when I’m having issues with my own car, my friend!

It is with great pleasure that I share with you all that my Dad, Mike Coughlin, was selected to become a Class of 2023 NODAK Speedway Hall Of Fame Inductee!!!

So happy for you and all of the selectees!

Please help me in congratulating all of the 2023 selectees to the Nodak Speedway Hall of Fame!!!

Family and friends, it is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a very special person. Gorilla Carburetors mastermind Mr. Chuck Tamburello. Chuck has gone on to meet his maker. I wanted to let you all know. Any funeral or other arrangements are yet to be determined. More to follow when known.
