A common question I get asked when people are scheduling appointments with me is 'what is included?'
Sometimes I feel it's hard to quantify since there's so much going on - I'm looking at your horse from the ground up starting with its hooves- are the balanced? Are toes too long? No heel? C**n footed? High low? These will affect the way to horse moves and uses it's body- which will affect saddle balance
If the feet aren't balanced is it due to confirmation? Needs a more educated farrier?
I look for any unusual swelling that might be new and could also affect the way the horse is going - so then the question is - is the horse moving this way due to some puffiness in the hind legs? Or because it doesn't like the saddle?
I palpitate the horse - is it back sore or reactive anywhere? If so could it be due to current saddle fit, needing Chiropractic, bodywork, (kissing spine?)or the way it's being ridden?
I look at the horses muscles and confirmation- muscles will usually tell me if it's being ridden well or not -and if the muscleing isn't good is there a reason why? Refer to all of the above questions plus how old is the horse, level of training and level of training of the rider
I have the job of not just fitting a saddle but also determine what is truly a saddle issue- what is a horse/pain issue, or what is Potentially a rider or training issue?
The only way to sort through all that information is to have years experience not just fitting saddles but training horses and being a good knowledgeable horse woman
So you're not just paying for my time working with you - your getting the educational result of decades of constant learning and life with horses in all aspects 💖🐎

At the USDF convention! So much to learn at all the forums, educational seminars and stay up to date in what's going on with dressage and discussion of rule changes.
If you've never been - next year it's in Kentucky! Same time and I highly recommend it 🤠🦄🐎

How to find the shoulder blade 12/01/2024

Little video I did to help explain where you put a dressage saddle- will do another one for jump saddles

How to find the shoulder blade I see on many forums people placing saddles a bit too far forward. The saddle needs to be placed BEHIND the shoulder blade, not on it.

Another win for adjustable saddles- I know some brands like to say they're limited and only adjusting the front won't make the saddle fit the horse - while this is true to a degree (panel shape and tree must also fit the horse) sometimes going out a size is all you need and a fixed tree (aka other brands) can't give you that
Connie here coming off broodmare duty earlier this year has been put back to work and getting fitter and as a result she is changing shape- she started having issues with the canter (not like her) had the chiro out- still not quite right double checked he gullet size and she was due for a bigger size!
