Are you ready to amplify your horses potential? Let’s chat 💬 At Sliding J my #1 priority is helping you and your horse reach your highest potential through creating mutual respect with trust and confidence. Most clients come to me for lack of confidence in themselves or in their horses. Often times this lack of confidence is truly a lack of clear communication. Horses may need tune ups or continued education along with their owners to build this confidence. Maybe you are finding yourself in this situation? I offer a few ways we can set you up for success, whether that be through lessons with you and your horse or having the horse get more education while you takes lessons on one of our trusty lesson horses. After building confidence individually, better communication and understanding of cues/body control allows the horse and rider to communicate effectively so they can grow in their trust for each other. Clear communication insures you are setting up the horse for success when giving them cues or asking for something new. We all have goals with our horses. Whether that be showing, trail riding, having a horse for your kids, or maybe a bit of everything. Let’s see how we can get you there. Desensitizing session with Moxie. She was a wonderful example of how desensitizing helps horses use less of the reactive side of their brain and more of the thinking side. Such a good little pony she is. 👑

Each horse that comes into my program gets a customized journey that includes daily updates on the horses progress, their turn out time for the day, and any medical care or medication the horse receives that day. This has been a wonderful tool to help the owners and I stay on track the horse’s progress. While also having a place to refer back to after the horse has left our care. I am so glad I implemented this into the program and hope the owners enjoy it as much as I do. For the horses that stay 90 days or more, owners also receive a complimentary Sliding J souvenir that is hand customized with the logo and your horses name. I take pride in the services I provide and am always happy to give a little something extra to my clients for their support of my small business. If you’re interested in sending your horse to training. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! You can private message this page or send an email to [email protected] for further assistance.

Some work on the road here in Sweet Home Alabama! Got to do lessons with two clients and had wonderful work sessions improving balance and body control. Here’s a picture of a well deserved scratch session to end a warm morning.

Here at Sliding J x K&K Stables we are lucky enough to have a few different drags to be able to get the arena the perfect depth and fluffiness for the horses best success. As the arena is still a work in progress, and I often feel like a rock farmer, this summer heat has made our sand light and fluffy. This calls for a quick drag to be flattened and a good soak down to contain some of the dust. Here’s a little satisfying video of getting the arena prepped for a day of work.

Today was my last ride with Arlo before he goes home. It has been a true pleasure being apart of his journey and as I rode him this morning I reflected on all the things he has taught and refined in me over these past few months. He came to me with an overwhelming anxiety that causes him to worry even in the moments he doesn’t need to. I helped him build confidence, body control, and learn to better process his emotions rather than overthink his way through them and not be able to get past his reactive mindset. He’s taught me that confidence is key even when you have to carry it for the both of you - you at least have to fake it for both of your sakes. Softness starts in the body and builds into the face because you may have a soft rein but that doesn’t mean you have control of their mind and body placement. That sometimes the best answer is to pause, regroup and try again while other times that may make things worse and it’s best to stay busy or push through. Finding the difference between those isn’t always easy. Though he’s not perfect and I think will always be a bit of his anxiety, goofy, lovable self, he has surely improved from when he got here. I am so proud of you, Mr. Arlo. Now be good for your mom in your future adventures!

That post workout Wednesday look… we’ve all been there Butters!

And yes.. we walked out for 10 plus minutes before this photo was taken. He’s cooled out, just tired and got a well deserved hose off after.

Butters worked on some refining of his run downs today. Finding the difference between bursting out off the rail verses building engagement and speed down the pen. After a few adjustments he got it with no issues and we finished with a wonderful stop that we were both ready for.

Butters is one of the few horses I get to refine/exercise while his owner is out of town. If you have a horse you’re looking to keep exercised while you’re buy with life, I am happy to help! Must be within 20 minutes of my home base location and horses must be we broke (over 200 rides) if you want them ridden or I can do ground work. I also have training spots available for October!2 on site spots and limited off site spots. PM for more information.

Come give Arlo his last bath with me! He goes home from summer school aka training this weekend!

He was comfortable and willing today and I saw big improvements from the first bath I gave him. ❣️
