The people criticizing you and your business were never going to be your customer.

Stop caring about what they think about you and how you run your business.

Your best customers are the ones who already paid you. And most service businesses do nothing with them.

I’ve had my car detailed by multiple people. Every time, the relationship ended at the payment receipt. No check-in, no follow-up, no reason to come back. By the next month I’d forgotten who did it.

That’s a customer they already won, walking off to get re-sold by whoever texts first.

Here’s what marketing to your base actually looks like:

One text a week. “How’s the car holding up?” Not a pitch, a check-in. Now you own the relationship and no competitor slides in.

Timed re-service nudges. A detail lasts 4 to 6 weeks. You know that, the customer doesn’t. Week 5 text and you booked the next job before they thought to look.

Seasonal triggers. Salt in winter, pollen in spring, love bugs all summer. Every season is a reason to come back. Tie outreach to the calendar, because the calendar never forgets and your customer does.

Referral ask at the peak. Right after a fresh detail, when the car looks its best, is when they show it off. Ask then, not three months later when the shine is gone.

Win-back for the lapsed. Pull everyone who hasn’t booked in 90 days, send one offer, reactivate a dead list of people who already trust you.

None of this needs a bigger ad budget. Most owners pour money into cold leads while a warm list sits in their phone doing nothing. The cheapest revenue you’ll ever make comes from someone who already paid you.

The detailer is just the example. Tree services, HVAC, cleaners, any business with repeat potential runs the same play. The ones that win built a system that remembers who their customers are and reaches out on autopilot.

Your next sale is already in your contact list.

Everyone fails at getting lean because they pick ONE thing to obsess over.

Calories vs macros vs food quality... you’re arguing about the wrong thing. All three are true at once:

1. Control your calorie intake first
2. Then manage your macros
3. THEN look at food choices

Here’s what nobody tells you: if you’re constantly starving and can’t stick to your macros, the food you’re eating to hit those macros is the problem. Some people can eat whatever fits and feel fine. Others are hungry no matter what, and those people need to fix WHAT they’re eating, not just how much.

Stop starting with one piece and ignoring the rest. Look at the whole picture. Why is this happening? Solve that. If eating more steak keeps you full and stops the overeating, boom, better quality food, done.

Burn more than you take in, you lose fat. Period. The rest is just making that sustainable enough to actually stick to.

If this is you, comment “LEAN” and I’ll send you three things to focus on right now and nothing else. That’s it. That’s how you simplify getting lean.

Do you know how many steps you’re getting each day?

You carry a rough idea of how active you are that runs well above reality. You think you’re moving plenty, but the number pulled straight from your phone is often half what you assumed. That gap matters, because daily movement is one of the biggest levers on how you look and feel, bigger than the hour in the gym.

Open your phone’s health app and look at your daily average over the last month. Not your best day. The average. That number is your baseline, and it’s usually a surprise. You can’t raise a number you’ve never looked at, and you probably haven’t looked.

The workout gets all the attention. It’s the hardest and most visible part, so the twenty-three hours around it get ignored. You can train hard for an hour and be nearly sedentary the rest of the day. Focus only on the session and you miss where the bulk of your movement, and the bulk of its impact, actually lives.

Total daily movement is the lever. Step count is how you see it. Raising it changes how you look and feel more than adding intensity to a workout that’s already hard, because it covers the part of the day the workout never touches.

The T.E.F. Method builds around honest daily movement, not guesswork.

Comment LEAN to see how it works, or save this and go pull your daily average first.

This whole last I’d say year and a half has been a reality check for me in what’s realistic for being in the gym, and what my goals really are. I haven’t stopped caring about my health, or how I look. But as a 30 year old business owner and prior to that sales manager/team leader, I have come to terms with not being able to workout 5 days a week every week, maybe not even 4, some weeks down to 2 or 3. And this last couple months it started to defeat me. Not because I was missing workouts, but because I lost my standard. I was missing workouts, and not hitting my protein goal, and not hitting my step goal, and not drinking enough water, and working 20+ hours straight. It was a combination of all of it, I started feeling softer; but that wasn’t what really bothered me. It was my performance in the gym, in the last 1.5 - 2 years I’ve been training less, I hadn’t seen a decrease in performance like I had this last couple months. That’s what hit me the most. So 3 weeks ago a made a commitment that I would get strict, and make it to the gym 4 days a week, and had a whole list of routine changes I was going to follow. It lasted 1 day. Not because I was weak, or undisciplined. If you’ve ever been around me in any aspect of work, business or life, you know that’s not true. It was because I was doing the exact thing I was doing when I started this years ago, trying to go ALL IN after a long time of inconsistency. So 2 weeks ago, I realized, I need to take my own advice. And my only 3 priority’s everyday right now, be physically active for 30-60 minutes, get 8k steps every day, and drink 1 liter of water. Yes. 1 liter. Because I’ve literally had weeks where I drink absolutely no water, and right now I need goals that I can accomplish. Once I can do that consistently. I’ll pick 2-3 more to add into my routine that will benefit me the most without overwhelming me. Likely 1 big change and 1-2 small changes. There is not right or wrong starting point. The only thing that actually matters is if you can do it consistently. Sometimes it takes more discipline, sometimes it takes more knowledge, but it always takes as little friction as possible to get from point A to point B.

What does your team actually do when you’re not watching?

Walk in an hour early. Leave without telling anyone. Ask your newest hire to explain the standard in their own words.

If any of that breaks, the standard lives in your head. Not in your business.

That’s the gap that costs you a client before you even know it’s happening.

I build systems that help hold the standard when you’re not in the room.

Comment AGENT and I’ll show you what that looks like.

Most business owners think they’re using AI. They open a chat window, ask a question, copy the answer, close it. That’s not AI running your business, that’s you working, just with a faster reference tool.

Real AI for your business does something different. It acts on its own. It works the lead flow, the follow up, the client communication, whether you’re at your desk or not. If your AI needs you to open it before anything happens, you don’t have business automation, you have a smarter search engine.

Three questions expose the gap fast. Does it do anything when you’re not using it. Does it act automatically when a lead or client does something. Could it run your routine communication for a full week without you touching it. Most owners can’t answer yes to any of them, which is exactly why their AI hasn’t changed their capacity.

Ownership changes this. A system built around your offers, your process, your voice doesn’t wait for a prompt. It’s deployed inside the business, not consulted from the outside.

Comment “setter” and I’ll show you what AI actually running inside a business looks like. Or save this and go check what yours is doing right now, while you’re not looking.

Someone messages your business at 11:47pm. They found you, they’re interested, they’re ready to book. What happens next in your actual setup decides if that lead becomes a client or gets absorbed by whichever competitor answered first.

The gap between a lead being ready and you actually responding is where most paid attention dies. A lead’s intent has a short half life. They’re hottest the second they reach out, and every hour without a response lets that readiness decay, even if the offer waiting on the other end is exactly what they need.

Trying to close that gap by being more available just burns you out. Checking the phone at all hours, answering everything yourself, still missing the leads that land overnight or mid session with a client. The issue was never work ethic. A human can’t be the response mechanism for something that shows up at any hour.

What actually closes the gap is a system that engages the moment the lead arrives, qualifies without you, and books the serious ones onto your calendar while intent is still high. Not a generic auto reply. An AI setter that knows your coaching offers and responds like you would, at 2pm or 2am.

If your response capacity is capped by your availability, the leak stays open no matter how strong the offer is behind it.

Comment SETTER and I’ll show you how the overnight gap actually gets closed.

You can be a lot of things at once.

Strong and still need help. Confident and still ask questions. Different and still respectful. Ambitious and still kind. Most people grow up thinking it has to be one or the other. Pick a side. Play a role. Fit the mold or break it completely.

It’s not that simple, and it never was.

Growth isn’t about choosing between two extremes. It’s about learning to hold both sides without losing yourself in the middle. You can set a boundary without becoming cold. You can grieve something without pretending you’re over it. You can walk away from someone without needing to burn everything down on your way out.

None of this is about being soft. It’s about being whole.

Somewhere along the way a lot of us learned that being one thing meant we couldn’t be the other. That strength meant hiding pain. That confidence meant never doubting yourself. That kindness meant letting people walk all over you. That’s not strength, that’s just a mask, and masks get heavy after a while.

The people who actually have it figured out aren’t the ones who picked a lane. They’re the ones who stopped believing they had to.

Save this post for the day you need the reminder that you don’t have to choose.

Which one on this list hit the hardest for you? Drop it in the comments, I read every single one.

I’d rather cut a tree down without a chainsaw than run my business without AI 🤷‍♂️
