Coaching can help regulate your thermostat. šŸŒ”ļø

A client was sharing with me what was happening in her work environment. After listening, I offered this perspective:

A thermostat sets the environment.

A thermometer simply reads the environment and is affected by it.

Many of us move through life like thermometers. Reacting to stress, conflict, other people's emotions, and circumstances around us.

Coaching helps you become more like a thermostat.

To pause before reacting.

To regulate your emotions.

To choose how you want to show up.

To intentionally influence the environment rather than being controlled by it.

We may not always control what happens around us, but we can learn to govern ourselves within it.

šŸ¦‰ šŸ”„šŸŒ”ļøAre you showing up as a thermostat or a thermometer? Who is being impacted the must?

My goodness… it’s been a minute since I’ve posted here šŸ˜…

Tell me I’m not alone…

Are you also out here running your own marketing, creating content, and fully believing you’re a rock star…

…while simultaneously:
taking care of two homes
travelingāœˆļø
folding laundry
cleaning bathrooms🚽
changing sheets (again? how?)
walking the dog 🐾 my exercise
feeding the dog (who acts like they’ve never eaten)
yard workšŸ‘©ā€šŸŒ¾
doing more laundry🧦
cooking, baking, family dinnersšŸ‘©ā€šŸ³
writing three books āœļø
still doing haircutsāœ‚ļø
checking in on family and friends ā¤ļø
returning texts (eventually 😬)
coaching calls + trainings
making calls for your real estate team
spending more money than what’s coming in (hello growth season šŸ™ƒ)
AND hanging with my granddaughter šŸ’•
AND squeezing in joy rides in the Jeep with the music up šŸš™šŸŽ¶

Because… same.

This is what ā€œlife by designā€ looks like sometimes.
Messy. Full. A little chaotic. A lot human.

Not perfectly curated.
Not always on schedule.
But deeply lived.

So I’m curious…

šŸ‘‰ What does your real life look like right now?

This morning I was facilitating a call with Realtors from across the globe.

The question we explored was simple —
How does patience, paired with a plan, impact our growth?

Is a plan important?
Yes.

Is patience important?
Absolutely.

It takes both patience and action to grow a real estate business.

And let’s be honest…

Sometimes what we call patience…
is actually hesitation.

Patience is the ability to wait calmly.
To endure delays without anger.
To choose long-term vision over short-term temptation.

That’s virtuous patience.

But excessive patience?

That can look like:

• Waiting without speaking up. What if I say the wrong thing?
• Avoiding asking for the business. What if I can’t answer their question?
• Tolerating limiting beliefs. What if I don’t make it?
• Letting opportunities drift by. I’ll reach out when I feel more confident.

Sometimes we tell ourselves we’re being patient —
when we’re actually avoiding discomfort.

Have you ever waited for someone to make a move…
only to realize they were waiting for you?

Growth in real estate requires patience with a plan.
And bold action behind it.

It requires courage.

Courage to say:
ā€œI’m ready.ā€
ā€œI expect more.ā€
ā€œThis isn’t aligned.ā€
ā€œLet’s move.ā€

Patience without initiative slows growth.
Patience with dignity accelerates it.

Your time is your most valuable asset.
Use it intentionally.

I’m curious —
Where in your business are you truly practicing patience…
and where might you be hesitating?

I’ve been in enough leadership rooms to know this:

Broker-owners don’t struggle because they lack drive.

They struggle because they’re carrying too much.

Production.
Recruiting.
Retention.
Culture.
Profit.

And when you’re stretched thin, growth slows — not because you don’t care, but because there’s no space to lead intentionally.

Dignity in leadership is steadiness under pressure.

It’s accountability without shame.
It’s holding standards without shrinking people.
It’s protecting culture while scaling profit.
