The National Athletic Basketball League (NABL) starts March 27th 2010 with the formation of the first minor league organization were the owners of the teams are part of the league. This is how the NBA, NFL, and MLB all operate and yet not a single minor league system in basketball follows this successful structure. This will be the first league to run with a governing body of owners that run the league instead of just one person.

Brief Information about the NABL:

~Standard Rules: The NABL will use the same rules as does the NBA, with a 24 second shot clock and each team will have 6 timeouts (all full timeouts) per game. The game plays with four 12 minute quarters with overtime if needed.

~Roster Stability: unlike other minor league basketball leagues each team will have a roster of 12 players and can only move 2 people on and off a roster per week. Players will be known in the league and stars will show up to every game not just select games.

~Talent level: This will be high as once you’re on team with the low roster turnover minutes will be guaranteed per player.

~Post Season Awards: MVP, Rookie of the Year, All Defensive Teams and All Star Selections per position.

~Owner Control: The league uses its owners to govern the league and makes sure that all important decisions are made as a group with majority consensus.

~Post Season Play: The Finals are the best out of three series for each round until a champion has won the NABL coveted “Iron Horse Trophy”.
