UmpIQ
Interactive baseball and softball umpire training with scenario-based reps, instant feedback, and daily challenges for developing and experienced umpires.
Can you get this call right?
New UmpIQ Daily Challenge is live: Obstruction, Now What?
No runners, no outs. Trouble ball to right field. F3 obstructs the batter-runner near first, and the batter-runner is later tagged out at third on a bang-bang play.
Do you kill it right away? Does the obstruction go away once the runner reaches second? Or do you let the play finish and make a base award that nullifies the obstruction?
Work the umpire movement, make the ruling, and see how your answer stacks up.

🚨 New UmpIQ Daily Challenge — May 18 🚨
Bases loaded.
Two outs.
Appeal play at 2nd base.
The defense gets the out…
…but did the run score FIRST? 👀⚾
This one comes down to timing, force-play rules, and knowing exactly when a run counts.
A LOT of umpires freeze on this situation in real time.

Had a great time joining Joe Sweeney on As I See It: An Umpire Podcast to talk about UmpIQ!
We covered what I’m building with UmpIQ.com, why reps and game situations matter so much for umpire development, and how better preparation can help crews feel more confident on the field.
Really appreciate Joe having me on.

High school playoff season is here.
We just added 3 umpire mechanics scenarios to UmpIQ focused on the situations that tend to expose crews this time of year.
If you’re working games, it’s worth a few reps:
