Breaking news… time to stock up on gear!

The OFFICIAL HORNS HELL XC COURSE REVEAL. Approximately 7 miles and 1400 feet of climbing per lap. Plus a 1 mile prologue starting by the main parking lot with about 100 feet of climbing. Features fun, rippin’ fast, technical descents and tough lung-busting climbs.

This race is fundraiser for local trails. Even if you don’t race, you can come buy a beer from the beer garden and heckle your friends.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT RIDE UP DOWNHILL TRAILS - EXCEPT ON RACE DAY. IT’S DANGEROUS AND PEOPLE CAN GET HURT. NOT COOL.

7) Down Half of PLAYGROUND LOOP

8) Up Upper Jurassic

9) Down EIGHT MILE

10) Up Greenhorn

11) Down DOGBONE

12) More Playground Loop

13) MOM VAN to Finish

*with a few unnamed detours thrown in. Course is subject to change.

Course includes all official trails except for Pro Jumpline, Slim Shady & Shenanigans. There are no mandatory gap jumps or drops over 2 foot. Everything is rollable. Pre-riding the downhills on Saturday, April 6th is recommend (and super fun).

The trail builders at Horns Hill Mountain Biking in Newark, Ohio have been building tons of new features. They just finished rebuilding Drop In, which will be downhill #2 in the course for Horns Hell XC on April 7. Tons of new rock features, berms and jumps. So fun.

Sign up for the “Hardest Race, mile-per-mile, in the Midwest” at COMBO - Central Ohio Mountain Biking Organization website. 200 ft of climbing per mile. Over 4000 ft of climbing if you sign up for three laps.

Plus, we’ll have a beer garden to raise money for local trails. Invite your friends so they can grab a beer and heckle you.

Mountain bikers… Announcing a new race this spring… “Horns Hell XC”, the hardest XC mountain bike race in North America, April 7, 2024 at Horns Hill Park in Newark, Ohio. Mike Whaley and I dreamed up one of the most difficult XC courses we could think of at Ohio’s premiere downhill venue. It’s a truly sadistic adventure with searing fast, hair-raising descents combined with soul-crushing climbs & hike-a-bikes. Can you survive the rock gardens, drops & tabletops?

Are you tough enough to take on the challenge? Sign up for 1, 2 or 3 laps… the Triple Threat, depending on how tough you feel. Or, take on the e-bike category. Either way, there is a time limit and finishing is no guarantee. Winning is just surviving this hell.

Wendel and I are heading to Ray’s Indoor Mountain Bike Park on Saturday 1/20. Approximately 10:30am-2:30pm. Hit me up if you want to meet us there. We have a few riders from .in.the.woods.mtb meeting us. I’ll be riding the Slash & Wendel will be on the ProCaliber. It’s always fun riding with friends.

Congrats to Mike Kaldy for winning the Ohio Mountain Bike Championship race at Mohican State Park on Saturday. He won three OMBC races this year on his way to becoming the 2023 champion.

James Knott got 7th in Expert Open Saturday and finished 3rd for 2023.

Chad Sutley got 3rd place in Novice Open and 2nd for the series yesterday at OMBC championship at Mohican State Park. With results like that, the pressure is on to move up to Sport next year. What’ll he decide?

Nocterra Trek got two 2nd place finishes at in the last weekend. got 2nd in Expert Open to National Champ in his age group, Ben Ort. James Knott got 2nd in Expert 35+. Cory Knight also repped us in Expert 50+ fueled by Nocterra beer! in !
