OHIO NATIVE JOEY ARDNER INKS WITH DELTA COLLEGE PREP

Delta College Prep is excited to announce the signing of 2008-born defenseman Joey Ardner for the upcoming season.

The Ohio native spent the 2025–26 season with the Olentangy Liberty Patriots (USHS-OH), appearing in 35 games and recording 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points.

Standing at 6’0”, Ardner brings size, physicality, and stability to the DCP defensive corps. Entering his post-graduate season, he is expected to provide a veteran presence on the blue line.

General Manager David Dew:
“Joey came to us through an internal recommendation, and he embodies exactly the type of character and attitude we look to bring into our culture. He brings an extremely physical presence and a booming shot from the point. He is the perfect addition to our defensive core within the final stages of recruitment.”

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:
“We are excited to welcome Joey, a standout defenseman from Olentangy Liberty, to the program.

Joey is a hard-nosed, big shutdown defenseman who adds a level of grit and sandpaper to our blue line that we have been actively seeking. His style of play and presence on the ice make him a key addition to our roster for the upcoming season.

We’re very excited to welcome Joey to Delta!”

MIKE REYNOLDS JR. SIGNS WITH DCP

Massachusetts-born 2011 forward Michael “Mike” Reynolds Jr. has signed with Delta College Prep for the 2026-27 season.

Reynolds joins DCP from the Berkshire Bruins Youth Hockey program, where he has spent his youth hockey career developing in Massachusetts. Mike also competed this offseason with our showcase partner, MOLE Hockey, where he made a strong impression on the Delta staff and earned the opportunity to join the program.

General Manager David Dew:

“Jr. has an outstanding personality, work ethic, and drive to develop. He’s ready to immerse himself in a high-end environment and begin making the transition out of youth hockey.

As a younger player, I’m really looking forward to developing his existing skill set and speed while getting him consistent reps alongside older, more experienced players. There’s a lot of runway here, and we’re excited to see what he can become.”

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:

“Mike is exactly the type of young player we want to invest in. He’s coachable, competitive, and comes to the rink with a genuine desire to get better every day.

For a 2011, stepping into an environment with older players is going to challenge him physically and mentally, but that’s also what makes this opportunity so valuable. He’ll be pushed every day, and our job is to help him learn how to use his speed and skill effectively at the next level. We’re excited to have Mike and his family joining Delta and to be a part of his development over the coming years.”

ETHAN MENDELKE SIGNS WITH DELTA FROM CSDHL

Delta College Prep has signed Illinois forward Ethan Mendelke for the 2026–27 season.

Mendelke was identified through our partner, MOLE Hockey, after attending multiple showcases this summer and making a strong impression on the Delta staff.

Last season, Ethan competed in the CSDHL with the Crystal Lake Yellow Jackets, recording 10 goals and 5 assists in 16 games before joining Lakers High School for the scholastic season, where he produced 32 points in 22 games.

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:

“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Ethan over the last year and watching his development firsthand. Ethan is a hockey player, plain and simple.

Driven by a constant motor to be on the ice and improve, he plays a relentless two-way game at center, brings a tough, gritty edge, and has been a top contributor for both his high school and CSDHL teams over the past two years—all while leading his high school squad in PIMs.

He’s a great addition to what we’re building, and we’re thrilled to get Ethan in a Delta sweater!”

General Manager David Dew:

“Ethan possesses an obvious skill set and a personality that fits exactly what we look for within our culture. His ability to produce speaks for itself, and we believe those numbers will translate well to the prep level.

The CSDHL is the nation’s premier AA circuit, and we’re excited to bring a high-end player from that environment into our program.”

OHIO NATIVE GAGE COATS SIGNS WITH DCP

2008 Ohio-born forward Gage Coats has signed with Delta College Prep for the 2026–27 campaign.

Coats joins DCP from the Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones AA program after previously playing with the Tri-State Spartans 16U AAA program. A dynamic forward with an above-average skill set at the prep level, Coats brings experience, offensive awareness, and the ability to impact the game in all situations.

General Manager David Dew:

“We spent a lot of time recruiting Gage. We cover the Ohio AA and scholastic scene extensively, and Gage was a primary target for us, especially given his previous experience at the 16U AAA level.

He already engages along the wall much like a junior hockey player, and I really appreciate his ability to find teammates in the offensive and neutral zones. We look forward to developing Gage and ultimately advancing him to higher levels of hockey.”

Head Coach Mitch Gillespie:

“Watching the Cyclones, it was clear just how impactful Gage was for them. He was always the first guy over the boards—power play, penalty kill, and all the key situations when it mattered most.

Gage has tremendous skill along the wall, and his ability to find teammates in the middle of the ice is special. As the primary facilitator for the Cyclones’ power play, he brings elite vision and game management to our group.

We’re thrilled to add Gage to our squad for the upcoming year!”
