parents are putting pressure on moments that don’t matter

and it’s costing their kids long-term success

youth wrestling was never meant to be this serious

but now you go to tournaments
and it feels like a college dual

parents screaming instructions every second
arguing with refs
getting emotional after every match

and the kid feels all of it

they might not say it
but they feel it

and now something shifts

they’re not wrestling to learn anymore

they’re wrestling to not disappoint

and that is one of the most dangerous mental positions you can put a young athlete in

because fear replaces freedom

they hesitate
they second guess
they stop pulling the trigger

not because they don’t know what to do

but because they’re afraid of messing up

and the crazy part is

most parents think they’re helping

they think more intensity equals better performance

but the best performers are loose

they are present
they are playful
they are confident enough to take risks

that doesn’t come from pressure

that comes from support

if every match feels like life or death
your kid will wrestle like it

tight
careful
afraid

and that becomes a habit

you don’t need to remove standards

but you need to remove unnecessary pressure

because long-term success is built on freedom

not fear

This week’s Boy Wrestler of The Week is Jayce Feril.

Jayce is a fast-paced wrestler that is a come back kid. Jayce often comes from behind points third period for the win. His style of wrestling reflects his effort he puts in practice.

Congrats Jayce!!!
