Huge shout out to our very own Gracelyn Hembree for signing with Ottawa to continue her wrestling career. Gracelyn has been a huge part of our program and helping set the standard for girls wrestling in Pratt. Ottawa is lucky to be gaining not only an amazing athlete but a great person and leader. We can’t wait to watch where this endeavor takes her.

State 2026 was an emotional and challenging two days for our sweet girls. The short version: Junior Brylee Richardson went 0-2, Sophomore Katelynn Downs went 0-2, and Senior Gracelyn Hembree went 1-1 and made a very hard decision to medical forfeit on Saturday.

All 3 girls faced some difficult challenges this season, but sacrificed and did what they could to compete. It was a sad ending; however, the two days were spent having good conversations, great attitudes, and looking forward to their futures. Without a doubt, these young ladies will be continuing in their love for wrestling.

One thing that was so encouraging was that they acknowledged that each of them has been made for a specific path, and that these moments of disappointment will be used in their journey for good.

All in all, we actually had a good weekend together, cheering on fellow Greenback wrestler Alex Chavez to a 5th-place win! We watched a lot of great finals matches and still enjoyed some laughs together on the way home. As Coaches we feel honored and blessed to be a part of their journey and we look forward to watching them grow as wrestlers and young women of character.

Our Girls Wrestling Team is headed to the 4A State Tournament in Salina on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28. Good luck to our three ladies wrestling! There will be a send-off when they leave on Thursday. The time will be announced early next week

Friday and Saturday 6 Lady Greenbacks battled to be in the top 8 at the Augusta Super Regional. Three ladies made it.

Senior Gracelyn Hembree 2nd
Junior Brylee Richardson 5th
Sophomore Katelynn Downs 8th

Though the whole team wasn’t there with us at Augusta they are also a part of these three ladies success. This journey has been full of adversity this year and it is not for the weak. We are thankful for what each girl brings to the room! 💚🩷💚🩷
