Our objective is to develop a team relationship among selected students and at-risk dogs from the local humane societies.

The teams will undergo a 20-week process, transforming the dogs from shelter animals to service dogs. Upon completion, the dogs will be paired with individuals needing assistance with daily activities. 😊WE NEED YOUR HELP❀️

This is Reno, Rudy, and Winston. All three are in our program at this moment, they are learning and working hard at breaking bad habits and creating good ones. Over the summer months they have worked on their training everyday.πŸ‘©β€πŸ« They are doing amazing and we are so excited to see how they progress! πŸŽ‰πŸ€—
But before they came to us they were in situations where they may have been abused, not wanted, or neglected. One of our goals is to save the lives of as many dogs as we can and help them reach their full potential but we cannot do that without the support of our community that we have built together with everyone who supports us.
In order for us to continue saving dogs and helping individuals in need, we need your help! Training to lead is asking for donations to help us with veterinary operations, food, training supplies (harnesses, vests, leashes, ect.), transportation for placed service and therapy dogs, as well as rent and repairs on our training facility.
A donation of just $20 would allow Winston to update his rabies vaccine, it would allow Reno to eat for 2 weeks, and would allow Rudy to travel to meet his possible furever home. If we are able to make our goal of $500 we will start the progress of expanding our services to save more dogs and enriching the life of people along the way!

You can help make a difference today! Donations can be given using paypal here on our page or they can be sent to us at PO 116 Stafford, KS, 67578.

We are now looking to find Rosco a FURever home πŸ•β€

Rosco is a trained therapy dog who has been helping in a high school classroom with Training to Lead for over a year. He does extreamly well in the classroom, listening to commands and attending to students when needed. πŸ‘πŸ»He loves his toys and wants your love and attention all to himself! 😍This is why he would prefer to be an only dog. He does well with children but prefers to help teenagers and adultsπŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ he is a lover not a fighter, Rosco will walk every step of the way with you everyday and when you decide to sit down he will hop right into your lapπŸ˜‚β€ He absolutely loves people and will go anywhere you want him to go!

If you are interested in filling out an application for Rosco the therapy dog, please message us with an email address and we will get it sent to you! If you would like more information about Rosco you can message us at any time and we can answer any questions you may have!

Congratulations to the Tuesday night class of Training to Lead! We had a lot of shy and timid dogs at this class who have really progressed and come out of their shells! We loved seeing your dogs gain confidence in themselves and in you as their owners. We are so thankful that you came to class and put in the time and effort, the manners your dogs now have say it all! Great job everyone! πŸŽŠπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Ž

We would like to thank the Golden Belt Community Foundation for the donation of the dog walk. It has tremendously helped improve the skills and confidence of the dogs that we place. While we may only place 10-15 dogs a year, we are still very proud that we are able to help 10-15 people a year. Our dogs are able to improve the lives of those suffering from PTSD by providing them with companionship and helping them with daily tasks.

Donations are always needed and appreciated so we would like to again thank Golden Belt Community Foundation, all of you who participate in our training classes, and those of you who are generous enough to give donations while adopting our dogs! We would not be able to do what we do without your help!

June is PTSD Awareness Month! In 2016, GBCF made a grant for $750 to Stafford Schools USD 349, Stafford, Kansas for an aluminum dog walk! The Training To Lead program at the school, is dedicated to adopting shelter dogs, training those dogs to meet "Service Dog" certification and assigning them to individuals that benefit from the dogs' specialized skills. The only challenge is the demand for skilled dogs, at approximately 100 per year, is not met by only being able to provide 10-15 trained dogs annually. Learn more at Training To Lead
