You gotta be careful what you read or hear. There is a video floating around showing how you can kill the CV-19 virus by breathing in hot air from a hair dryer. I looked this up and found three videos of interviews with doctors who refute this claim. 1) The nasal membrane is sensitive and you risk burning and damaging it 2) the body naturally creates its own heat to fight the virus via fever 3) The most brilliant minds in medicine are working on cures. If this hot air up the nose really worked, they'd be using hair dryers in hospitals and there would be no need for ventilators.
One thing that is known is that Vitamin C and D will help to build your immune system and help to increase your chances of recovery. I've noticed that those vitamins have gone the way of toilet paper and there are empty spaces in vitamin shelves where those two vitamins normally reside. My wife and I have an ample supply of both.
Speaking of toilet paper, I'm still trying to figure out how millions got the same idea at the same time to buy up and horde toilet paper! Why not non-perishable foods and medicine? "We may starve, but we'll go out with clean as****es!"

Here's a homemade energy drink that blows away anything you'd buy, as far as being effective is concerned, and it's healthy, and it costs just pennies to make.
Heat up a half a coffee mug of water, just warm enough to dissolve honey. Stir in 1 Tbsp. of raw unfiltered honey, 1/2 tsp. of Saigon Cinnamon, 1 Tbsp. of chia gel, and 1 Tbsp. of Bragg's organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. Drink that down together with a Super B-Complex vitamin and an ultra iron pill. I kid you not. This stuff really works! There are absolutely no detrimental side effects as everything in it is natural and healthy.
I just can't understand those commercial energy drinks. You start reading the ingredients and things look good until you get down to those eight syllable ingredients that you have no clue as to what they are or why they've been included. And "artificial" coloring and flavors? What's in those? And then you're charged an arm and a leg for a shot-glass sized portion.
Well, you know exactly what's going into the homemade energy drink. Nothing sneaky has been added to prolong shelf life, or whatever. As well as providing you with a bushel of energy, you also just generally feel good and alive - naturally.
For a chia gel, mix 1/3 Cup chia seeds (also known as Indian running food) with 2 Cups water. Let sit overnight in the frig before using. It is tasteless.
POMPEII
My wife and I went to Tall Town to see it a few days ago.
Basically, it is "Love Story" meets "Gladiator" against the back drop of an eventually erupting volcano, which you wish would hurry up and explode just to put an end to the B-movie story. There were definitely those "Ohhhh, please!" moments. The good guys are sooooo good and soooo unfairly treated, and the bad guys are soooo bad without an ounce of redeeming qualities. The really bad Roman guy was a veritable Snidely Whiplash (Marry me or I'll take the deed to your parents' villa).
The set was outstanding, recreating Pompeii, and the special effects were amazing.
My wife found the one redeeming factor of the movie to be Kit Harrington (Jon Snow - Game of Thrones). But what the heck was up with his hairdo?? Throughout the movie his hair was brushed back over one ear on one side, and all poofed out on the other side in either a perpetual bedhead or a really bad 1950's ladies' hairdo.
There were also a number of implausibilities. The all-time greatest champion gladiator was scheduled to fight his last fight on the day of the eruption, at which time, assuming he won, he would be presented with his wooden gladius and freed. But, no! Snidely Whiplash had other plans for him. He would be ignobly slaughtered in the very first contest of the day, pitted with a half dozen or so gladiators against half a Roman Legion. Of course, he and his new found pal, Kit Harrington, handily defeated the opposition in a display of derring-do that would have made Russel Crowe look like a wimp. The historical fact is that ultra-successful gladiators were the sports heroes of their day and were revered by the Romans. Half of Rome would have showed up to witness this great gladiator win his freedom.
The really really bad Roman was miscast with Kiefer Sutherland as a Roman Senator. Kiefer has played some great roles, but he was simply unbelievable as a sophisticated, decadent Roman Senator, and it was amazing to see that he could actually deliver a lot of his lines while keeping a straight face

Does the TYPE of resistance used for hypertrophy matter?
I received an email from someone who has been working out with The Hook for years and wants to know if muscles are blind and will respond equally to any form of resistance, or whether or not the type of resistance used can effect muscle growth.
Well, it is my feeling that the type of resistance used does effect the amount of muscle growth. For example, we all know that isometrics can be effective in building strength, but doesn't do a lot in the hypertrophy arena. I believe that the best all-round routine would incorporate a number of protocols; weights, bodyweight, elastic bands, isos, yielding isos. The Hook is great for building muscle size, as the bands incorporate progressive resistance with each pull, much the same as Nautilus equipment, which produces a burn in your muscles not experienced with any other protocol. Weights provide a solid size-building foundation. They provide the means of performing compound exercises which will guarantee the ultimate in muscle growth, as opposed to isolation type exercises.
I like The Hook for it's muscle-burning, pumped-to-the-max results. I like lifting weights for their over-all strength and size building. For example, when you do curls with a barbell or dumbbells, you gotta reach down and lift the weight off the floor which brings into play the muscles of your back, legs, arms forearms - all those muscles needed to lift a heavy object off the floor. The combination of all of these muscles working together results in a compound exercise which will ensure that you are taking your muscle growth as far as it will go. I even combine bands with weights for the ultimate in muscle blasting. Weights also keep you honest. You can't delude yourself into believing that you are stronger than you actually are.
It is my opinion that The Hook is ideal for some exercises and that weights are best suited for other exercises. For example, I find The Hook best for triceps exercises; extensions, pushdowns, triceps curls. For me, dumbbells work best for presses and concentration curls. I do hammer curls with fat bars. I know that there are some people who swear by dead lifts. I prefer pushups to bench presses. Nothing can work the muscles of your back like chin-ups and pull-ups, bodyweight rows. As far as I'm concerned, pushup and chinups are the kings of upper body development, which can't be duplicated by weights or bands, unless you want to enhance the bodyweight exercises with either bands or weights.
To incorporate the benefits of isos into my workouts, I finish off each exercise with a good, solid, ten second iso. Isos build the fast-twitch fibers of your muscles. I recall once reading where, after a back workout, Arnold would grab hold of a pipe mounted vertically on a wall and pull on it, imagining himself to be Conan the Barbarian, ripping the pipe out of the wall.
For the ultimate in muscle growth, I incorporate all of the above into a supertsetting the supersets routine.
Finally, I believe that working out doesn't have to be, nor should it be, a case of one or the other. As soon as I hear someone saying that this protocol or that protocol is all you need, I think what a disservice they're doing to themselves. There's all kindsa stuff out there that can effectively contribute to muscle growth. Take advantage of all that you can.

Customizing The Hook.
You can get The Hook Anchor to go with the Sierra Hook Gym, which can be secured all the way around a door or suspended from a support, which will enable exercises from a variety of angles. You can also create custom setups. Here I am performing bench presses from steel hooks installed on either side of a door. You lean into the handles creating a "bench" with your bodyweight. You'll also notice that I've suspended my Sierra Iso/Suspension Trainer from lag screws installed over the door.
