Today we Remember. We remember the shock. We remember the loss. We remember the fear and anger. But mostly, we remember the love, compassion. Today we remember how America came together and said no. We will not be torn down. We will not be crushed by this. We will not waive w hire flag. We will will come together. We will unite. And we will never forget.
So we do this workout to remember those whom we’ve lost. Those whom sacrificed their lives. And those who continue on, 20 years later.

Not every movement needs to be strict. Out shoulders and bodies are meant to move in multiple ways. Superman-Hollowbody movement can be done on the ground, holding pull up bar and is very common in gymnastics. Here it's used to great momentum for chest-to-bar-pullup.

Learning to feel comfortable having a barbell rest on the shoulders takes time. The common reaction is to hold a weight out in front of us. However this puts pressure on the wrist and elbows. ISCF works to improve mobility and keep weights light while learning new movements. (Don't worry. He got the bar to the shoulders. 😉)

September 11th, 2001 will forever be a memory of mine. The lives lost. The feeling of being vulnerable. The feeling of fear.
September 12, 2001 is an even stronger memory. The memory of strangers coming together, risking and sacrificing lives to try and save lives. The moment we realized we are one Nation. So we remember by completing this workout today. With hope that the memory of today can bring us back together every day. The choice is yours.

Handstand Push-Ups are a very important movement. Why? First, it helps with strengthening your shoulder, arms, chest, core and glutes. When performed correctly, there is minimal risk to the spine/neck just like any other movement. It can even help to decompress the spine.

Also, it helps challenge the brain with the inversion. This can help improve balance as well as mood, focus and energy levels.

Work with a coach on proper progressions and consult your doctor if you have any medical issues before going upside down.

One of my favorite parts of coaching is teaching how resistance training (weightlifting) can transfer over into functional movements, such as strongman. Slight differences, but both safe when done correctly. And I now know who to call if my car doesn't start.
