🏁 IT’S RACE DAY AT DU QUOIN! 🏁 The wait is over! The USAC Silver Crown National Championship takes on the historic DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Magic Mile TODAY for the 72nd running of the Ted Horn 100!

A strong field of Silver Crown stars is ready for 100 miles on the dirt, led by defending Du Quoin winner and championship leader C.J. Leary, Springfield winner Briggs Danner, two-time Ted Horn winner Justin Grant, Southern Illinois favorite and two-time winner Shane Cockrum, plus Jake Swanson, Chase Stockon, Brian Tyler, Mario Clouser, Kaylee Bryson and many more!

The DIRTcar Modifieds are also on track today with qualifying and heat races, setting the stage for Sunday evening’s Bill Oldani Memorial.

It’s time for alittle reflection of years gone by:
known as the funnest weekend of racing for the USAC West Coast CRA racers, The Louie Vermeil Classic in the wine country of Calistoga on Labor Day weekend.

The Moose Crew always kicked off the weekend with friends around the bbq sizzling freshly butchered tri tip steaks that were purchased on the way to the track from Harris Ranch, consuming “afew” bottles of wine from The Castle and topping off the evening with what we all claimed had to be the biggest cookies we’d ever seen! Oh , and maybe a trip to the local pub “ Susie’s”. During Saturday & Sunday prior to the evenings racing was wine tasting presented by many of the local wineries on Saturday & filling your nugs with specialty brewed beers on Sunday.

Completion on the 1/2 mile track was always fierce and on 2 occasions drivers of the 92 claimed their spots on the podium. Austin Williams 1 year with a Victory and Jake Swanson another .

It’s weekends like this one that makes Tom & Lauri a tad bit homesick … wishing like heck we were there this 2026.
Sending all of our best to the competitors, the officials, fans & to Tommy & Jeanne Hunt , the promoters of this event for as long as we can remember. We did just last week find out that this is the last year the Hunts will be promoting this event… dang , if we’d know sooner that was the case, every effort to be at least in attendance, maybe without the 92 car, but still there celebrate the many years The Hunts have put their hearts & souls into The Louie Vermeil Classic!!

That's how much money was raised throughout Chili's weekend at Kokomo Speedway for the Riley Children's Foundation & Riley Hospital for Children.

All the money will go toward fighting childhood cancer.

Huge, huge thank you to all who donated & to Melinda Stanbrough, Jessica Mack and all others involved for their tireless efforts.

Throughout the 15 years of Chili's Smackdown, they have raised more than $1 million!

Another Kokomo Smackdown has come to an end … sure wasn’t the on track results we were all hoping for , engine & mag woes followed us the 1st 2 nights ….putting Chase & the team behind the 8 ball for sure . But 1 thing you can say about The Moose Team , they never give up!!! Came back to win a qualifier and a transfer to The Big Dance, coming in when the checkers fell in 11 th.
The auction for Riley’s Children Hospital was a raving success as the bids were flying high on so many of the 1 of a kind items . Lauri was no match for the beautiful hand wood burned game chest, as Jeremy Jay Flanders was gonna do whatever it took to take that with him !!
The Kickin’ It Kick Ball game was a fav for so many kids …and check out who makes a pretty nice lookin’ Moose 🫎
Always look forward to Smackdown … has to be the best weekend of the USAC National Series …
