Mushfiqur Rahim’s career would not have been possible if social media had existed back then the way it does today.

Playing around 80 ODI innings with an average in the 23 range as a batter who batted right after Shakib Al Hasan (Bat Avg was 34) and above Mahmudullah (Bat Avg was 29) in the batting lineup is simply not defendable by any means.

Many would argue that a 23 average was considered good back then, but that logic does not really hold up. Mushfiqur mostly played ODIs after 2006, and from that period onward Bangladesh had already started playing a much better brand of cricket. Players like Shahriar Nafees, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mahmudullah were already in the main picture. Even heavily criticized batters like Rakibul Hasan had better stats than Mushfiqur Rahim during that phase.

But guess what? In 2011, BCB handed Mushfiqur the ODI captaincy right after the World Cup. From 2011 to 2014, his ODI performances were also quite poor apart from two Asia Cup editions. However, from 2015 onward, Mushfiqur Rahim truly turned things around.

As reported by Channel 24 and also covered by Daily Samakal, the BCB election is once again turning into a political game.

A record-breaking two-thirds of the board members now have direct political ties. Many new directors are politicians, their relatives, or close associates, with several candidates running unopposed.

Naim Sheikh firmly believes he has evolved from the player he was in 2019-20. Speaking in an interview with CricFrenzy, the top-order batter shared his transformation:

"I am no longer the same Naim Sheikh I was in 2019–20. Now in 2025–26, I have tried to transform everything, from my mentality to my skills."

Do you agree with Naim's words? Does the opener still have a place in Bangladesh's white-ball setup?
