Established in 1997, with a sense of PRIDE, and Tradition to our community the Bulldogs continue to do so now under the leadership of Head Coach Edwin Campbell.

History in our own backyard! Today’s journey takes us to JW Ligon High School! Built in 1953 Ligon served as a prominent historically black high school during segregation. Ligon was the high attend by blacks in the then Raleigh Public Schools system. Today Ligon serves as a Magnet Middle school!

History in our own backyard! Today’s figure is the one and only Clarence E. Lightner. Lightner a political figure in the South was Raleigh’s first and only black mayor! Lightner Served as mayor from 1973-1975, becoming one of the first blacks to be elected as a mayor in a majority white city in the South. Lightner was also a member of city council and a mortician running Lightner Funeral home for years.
