Another week, another reason to be proud of this community 💙
From first camps crushed, to milestones celebrated, to visitors stepping into camp and instantly feeling the love from our community…this week was full of wins big and small👏
Every milestone started with someone showing up for their very first camp, and we’re so grateful to be part of each step along the way. Keep showing up, keep cheering each other on, and keep becoming stronger together, North Raleigh! 👏👏

Nearly 70 pounds down and a completely transformed mindset 💪🔥
When José first started his journey at Burn, he felt tired, unmotivated, and lacked confidence in himself. Like so many people, he wanted to make a change, but taking that first step felt intimidating.
Through consistency in the gym, healthier eating habits, and the support of the Burn community, José has become both stronger and healthier physically AND mentally. His transformation is proof that small daily choices truly add up ❤️
Read below to hear more about José’s incredible journey in his own words ⬇️

“Before joining Burn, I felt unmotivated, tired, and honestly not confident in myself. I knew I wanted to make a change but didn’t know where to start.
My biggest hesitation was whether I would actually stay consistent and if I would fit in. I was nervous about starting something new and stepping out of my comfort zone.
Since joining Burn, I’ve seen amazing results physically and mentally. I’ve become stronger, have more energy, feel more confident, and developed healthier habits overall.
Burn has changed my life in such a positive way by giving me motivation, discipline, and a supportive community. It’s helped me believe in myself again and pushed me to become a better version of myself every day.”

On December 30th, 2022, I almost didn’t walk through those doors. I sat in my car, staring at the building, convincing myself I would only embarrass myself if I went in. I felt completely intimidated.
A month earlier, I had lost my mom to a rare terminal cancer that had taken over our lives for two years. During that time, I devoted everything to her: doctor appointments, chemotherapy, and ultimately hospice, all while also raising a toddler and a newborn. I had completely put myself on the back burner.
My mom knew that. Some of her last words to me were: “Don’t let yourself go. Stay active. Be the best, healthiest version of yourself.”
So as I sat in that parking lot, going back and forth in my head, I kept replaying her words. Over and over again, reminding myself that I could do it.
Finally, I walked in during an evening camp. Within seconds, I heard the trainer call out, “One more rep, Veronica!”
I froze.
Veronica was my mom’s name.
A coincidence? I don’t think so. I believe that was her way of telling me I was exactly where I was meant to be.
That first workout was hard. It was humbling. But it was also empowering. No one judged me. No one expected perfection. Just a room full of people encouraging each other and handing out high fives (which definitely took me a while to get used to!).
