Helping Parents Support Their Child's Dreams

Photos from Momaging Made Easy's post 04/22/2026

It's self tape time. Your child has been "almost ready" for 45 minutes.

The lighting looks weird, they keep forgetting their lines, and you've restarted the camera more times than you can count.

You're not a bad parent.

You just didn't know there was a system.

Most parents in this industry are winging it in real time, and the hard truth is, the difference between a self tape that gets a callback and one that gets skipped in the inbox isn't talent.

It's what happens before you ever hit record.

The environment. The energy. The prep. The little things nobody tells you until you've already wasted a Saturday afternoon and have a frustrated kid on your hands.

I put together something that fixes all of that.

Parents who use it stop the reshoot spiral. Their kids show up to the camera relaxed and ready. And their tapes actually stand out in a pile of hundreds.

Drop the word CHECK in the comments below and I'll send you my free Self Tape Checklist right away - everything you need to make your next session smoother, faster, and so much easier on everyone in that room.

Your kid is ready.

Now let's make sure the tape proves it.

Bookmark this and run through it before your child's next self-tape submission.

1) Review the breakdown - know exactly what they're asking for (wardrobe, tone, slate format, file labeling instructions, etc.).

2) Find a mirror and practice the sides out loud - not just reading, but being the character. Record a rehearsal take first.

3) Set up the day before - lighting, background, reader, device charged. Avoid "day-of" surprises.

4) Get your child's head in the right space - calm body, full belly, low pressure. Remind them: this is play, not a test.
Save this and share it with a Momager who needs it! 💛

“Where do I start if my child wants to be on TV or in movies?”

I get this question all the time… and my answer might surprise you:

Start with TRAINING. Not headshots. Not gear.

Because here’s the truth most people won’t tell you:

What feels like “fun” in school plays can feel very different when it becomes a job. It takes discipline, focus, and real commitment.

And before you invest hundreds (or thousands) into headshots and equipment…
you need to know one thing:

Does your child actually LOVE doing this?

The best way to find out?
Give them opportunities to:
• Take acting classes
• Practice on camera
• Try, fail, grow, and try again

If they still love it after that? Now we’re talking.

Too many parents jump straight to the “look like a professional” stage… before confirming their child even wants to be one.

Start with experience. Then build from there.

If this helped you, share it with another mom who’s trying to figure this out.

🎁 And if you’re ready for the next step, grab your FREE Ultimate Self-Tape Checklist for Parents - it walks you through exactly how to set up simple, effective auditions at home (without wasting money on the wrong things).

The best advice our agent ever gave us?

"Audition, submit, and forget."

We laughed. We didn't believe it. We kept checking our phones after every tape like that was going to make them call faster.

But after tape after tape after tape... we finally got it.

The audition IS the work.

Getting the role? That's the icing. Maybe even the sprinkles.

Your child might not get cast because they're too tall. Too short. Don't look like the mom, the grandma, the sibling - maybe even the dog. 🐶 None of that is within their control.

So help your child do their absolute best. Submit something you're both proud of. And then let it go.

Because Casting remembers a great tape. And sometimes "not this time" is quietly becoming "next time."

You've got this, Momager. 💗

Save this for the next time you're stress-checking your inbox after a submission.

Slates matter more than most parents realize.

Before casting even watches the scene, they’re clocking confidence, clarity, and presence - and that all starts here.

A great slate is:

- Warm, not robotic
- Confident, not over-rehearsed
- Clear, clean, and professional

Save this checklist and run through it every single time your child tapes. The goal isn’t perfection - it’s making casting feel at ease and ready to watch the performance.

Pro Momager tip: Practice the slate once or twice, then let it feel natural. Over-coaching shows faster than you think.

Follow for simple, industry-smart guidance that helps your child show up confident - without the overwhelm.

Agents vs. Managers - why is this so confusing?

Because no one explains it clearly… so let’s fix that.

Agents = submit + negotiate
Managers = guide + develop

But here’s the truth most parents learn the hard way:

Representation doesn’t replace preparation.

If self-tapes aren’t strong, branding isn’t clear, or the process feels chaotic, adding a rep won’t solve that - it just adds pressure.

The smartest move?

Get the foundation solid first.

Agents open doors.
Managers help you walk through them wisely.

Preparation is what gets you invited in.

Follow for calm, clear guidance that helps you support your child without losing your mind. 💗

One of the smartest things I ever did as a Momager was stop taking advice from random corners of the internet - and start learning from people who’ve seen this industry up close.

's book "Parenting In The Spotlight' helped me think differently about success, pressure, and what actually matters when raising a child performer.

And yes… I have a second favorite book I also recommend for parents navigating auditions, agents, and self-tapes.

Comment “BOOK” below and I’ll tell you what it is. 💗

If your child loves to perform, you already know this feeling.

The rules change.

What worked last time suddenly doesn’t.

And parents are expected to just figure it out.

That’s where the stress comes from - not your child’s passion.

I help parents understand...
- What actually matters (and what doesn’t)
- How to prep without pressure
- How to support your child without feeling lost

Follow me for simple, mom-friendly tips that make this journey feel clearer, calmer, and way more doable.

You don’t need to become an expert.
You just need the right guidance. 💗
