Tai Chi Silk Reeling Workshop with Coach Jan Gyomber, Saturday May 2nd 3pm to 5 pm at Mt. Penn Kung Fu and Holistic Center.
"Silk reeling" refers to gentle coiling and spiraling movements of ones body to optimize full body coordination for improved health and martial ability. This workshop is appropriate for all levels of fitness or martial art experience. We will first practice some general silk reeling execises, emphasizing energy flow and coordination. We will then examine how the silk reeling is used within the Tai Chi movements. Finally, we can investigate the use of Tai Chi silk reeling for self-defense. In the last part of the workshop, Coach Jan will answer questions about Tai Chi martial applications.
Workshop tuition is $35 cash. Copies of Mr. Gyomber's book, "Lessons From Masters" will be available for $15.

Years ago (circa 2000) Jan was working at Fred's Music Shop in Shillington and waited on a couple and their young daughter. They wanted to replace her old guitar with something better. The mother spotted a 12 string koa wood acoustic guitar from the Taylor guitar company of California, and asked to have her try it. The daughter strummed it a few times and her face lit up in a big smile. Mom said "Do you like that one? It even has your name on it." They purchased that guitar and even returned to the store a few years later to buy a 6 string guitar. The family was getting ready to move to Nashville to pursue a record deal for the daughter. The parents were Andrea and Scott Swift. Their daughter, Taylor now has a succesful musical career. Support your childrens' interests
