Well you would think that a guy could get a hit with a graph that looks like that. Nope they were lock jawed. Love the colors on this brown. Lake shasta is a really great place to fish.

Shasta lake is on fire. Shad are up and the trout are chasing. Pull those Trinidad tackle optimizers and rapalas and bayrats. We boated 16 fish and lost 2 others and yes the big 1 got away. Stay in the top 20 ft that's where the fish are. Also get those lures out away on planer boards. Remember those fish will only move away from the boat 20 to 30 ft. But also they will go down so dont be afraid to put a mini dipsy diver on and get down 15 ft . Well good luck and tight lines.🐟🐟

Well we went out today and n it was slow y till this 8 lb brown decided to crush a rapala at 2.5 mph 100 ft setback on a planer board . So in the last 2 days of fishing (sunday and today) we got a 5.5 lb and 8 lb browns fish gods have been shining on us. I will try and get video posted later. These fish were both released to fight another day.

5.5 lb brown lives to fight another day.

We launched a bridge bay this morning and made the journey up the McCloud only to find that it was very muddy and lots of debris so we worked our way down river. Picked up a few small trout on our way down. Then just as luck would have it the outside planer board took of and the big boy was hooked up. Wife jumped into action and began the fight as I cleared lines. After a sweet little struggle with him we landed this nice 5 5 lb brown. We trolled Trinidad tackle optimizer and optimizer jr at 2.8 that was the speed the fish wanted. The size #3 optimizer was size they wanted today. No hits on stick baits all on optimizers. So if you dont have them in your arsenal I would grab some and troll fast. Be patient the big ones will come. 150 ft set back on planer board and 100 ft on long line not weights today. Good luck shasta is going to only get better.

Well we hit the water on shasta on Tuesday and it started out slow but picked up as soon as the sun got on the water. We trolled from
2.5 to 2.8 mph. The lures we used were broken back rapalas and optimizer jr and optimizer #3. The rapalas were the hot ticket but we fished 5 different lures and colors and caught fish on everyone. We boated 17 fish lost 2 others by the boat and had half dozen other strikes that didn't stick. We used planer boards and snap weights. as the water warmed we added the snap weights and used the 50/50 to calculate our depth. Pic is of the biggest fish of the day. We ended with 2 browns and the rest bows. No kokanee. All fish were released to be caught another day. A special shout out to Stan Kulak who we recently lost to his battle with cancer. Thank you stan for all your help and dedication to the sport and this page. Rest in peace my friend you will be missed. God bless you.
