Meet Courtney, Our Step-N-Sculpt and Zumba Instructor!!
In 2006 I was 70 pounds overweight. I felt sick and depressed and knew I needed to make a change. I took up Zumba because I use to be a dancer throughout my school age years. It was a way for me to ease my way back into fitness. From my first Zumba class, I knew I was hooked!! Since then I have lost 70 pounds, become an instructor myself, and I love sharing my story and motiving others. I know what it is like to feel uncomfortable in my own skin, and I want to show others that they can get their confidence back and have fun while doing it! My biggest challenge with fitness is realizing that I can’t be perfect 100% of the time. Allowing myself to have faults and realizing that I have strengths as well as weaknesses, and that is ok.
What is Step-N-Sculpt??
A Simple, heart-pumping step aerobics routines combine with strength training intervals to give you a complete cardio and weights workout. This is an excellent cross-training class for all skill and fitness levels. You may be surprised to actually enjoy sculpting your body and following step combinations.

What is Deborah's Story?
In 2005, on my 45th birthday I was diagnosed with kidney and thyroid cancer. I had many surgeries that included the removal of my right kidney and thyroid followed with radiation therapy. Through my journey with cancer, I gained an additional 50 pounds. I had the mindset that this was the way I was supposed to look. I was going to be heavy, it ran in the family, so I might as well get used to it. During a follow up appointment I was told I had Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), a life-threatening illness that can cause progressive kidney damage that can lead to dialysis or transplant. My doctor recommended that I would exercise in order to lower my weight, my blood pressure and so down the disease. As my husband’s health declined I learned that I was robbing my life with the bad health choices I was making. My husband encouraged me to go visit Jamie Smith Chiropractor because he offered a fitness room and nutrition counseling. Through the hard work and tears I learned how about eating habits and portion control. Every week I lost a pound and in a year, I lost a total of 60 pounds. Since cardio was a big part of my weight loss, I decided it was time to regain muscle mass. My father-in-law bought me my first gym membership at Anderson Athletic Club, where she met a Pilates instructor named Cat Carson, who altered the movements for me, knowing that I had past injuries. I then decided that I wanted to become a personal trainer and motivational speaker. I want to give back life to others the way people gave me my life back.
It’s a new and unique fusion of Pilates type movements incorporating yoga, weights, bands and other fitness equipment to enhance the transformation of your body. Each routine is designed to challenge, strengthen and tone your entire body with zero impact.
