This weekend was one for the books for the M3 Motorsports crew. Two tracks, four cars, countless miles, and a whole lot of lessons learned along the way.
We kicked things off at Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon, Nevada with the Outlaw Karts. Every single weekend we’re seeing progression with Emmitt as he continues to get more seat time and confidence behind the wheel. He battled hard all night and brought home a solid 5th place finish in the main event. Proud of the work he’s putting in and excited to watch him continue growing as a driver.
As soon as the karts wrapped up, we loaded everything up and hauled tails to Susanville, California to race at Diamond Mountain Speedway — a facility we’ve only ever been spectators at until now. It was awesome finally getting the opportunity to unload our own equipment and be part of the action there.
We brought out the Dwarf Car and the IMCA Northern Sport Mod alongside our buddy Phuckin Phil’s Dwarf Car to continue chasing points for the NV OUTLAWS series.
For the Dwarf Car heat race, a pill draw of 55 put us starting 3rd. We managed to finish 3rd, so no gains and no losses — but plenty of valuable information for setup changes heading into the main. The car felt a little bogged down with too much traction, but overall it was still a blast to drive and gave us a direction to work toward.
Heading into the Dwarf Car main, we rolled off 5th and got to race with some seriously seasoned drivers. Lap traffic came into play and my buddy definitely knew my line better than I hoped, but we still battled hard and brought home a 4th place finish. Racing goes like that sometimes. You win some, you learn some, and there’s always another shot at the next one.
In the IMCA Northern Sport Mod, we started 2nd in the heat, dropped back to 3rd, and headed back to the pits to regroup for the main event. Fueled up, grabbed a sandwich, watched some racing, and got ready to head back out.
Unfortunately, rookies make mistakes — and sometimes those mistakes cost a team time, supplies, patience, and a lot of extra work. Tough lesson learned this weekend, mainly knowing when to pull off the track before things get worse. Still a lot of learning ahead, but that’s all part of racing. The biggest takeaway is learning how to feel what the car is telling me and trusting it before something goes wrong.
At the end of the day, we’re thankful for the miles traveled, the people around us, the memories made, and the opportunity to keep doing what we love. Huge thank you to everyone who supports M3 Motorsports, helps us get to the track, and sticks behind us through both the wins and the hard lessons.
We’ll regroup, rebuild, and be ready for the next one. 🏁
