What comes to mind when you hear the word “hypnosis”?
A swinging watch?
Mind control?
Someone clucking like a chicken on stage?
Hollywood has given hypnosis a reputation it doesn’t deserve.
The reality is that hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention—one that researchers and clinicians have studied for decades. It’s used to support everything from stress reduction and better sleep to confidence, habit change, and performance.
Join me for Hypnosis Without the Hollywood, an interactive Zoom session where we’ll separate fact from fiction, explore the science behind hypnosis, and answer your questions in a judgment-free space.
You’ll even have the opportunity to experience a brief guided hypnotic relaxation. Think of it as a spa treatment for your mind—a chance to slow down, quiet the mental chatter, and experience hypnosis for yourself.
Whether you’re curious, skeptical, or simply looking for a new way to support your wellbeing, I’d love to have you join us.

At the end of 2025, my day job was pretty busy but I managed to complete this certification!

I know - I haven’t been here in a while. I’ve been busy pursuing certification in hypnosis—and the first thing I’ve learned?
It’s wildly misunderstood.
Let’s clear something up: hypnosis is not mind control.
No one is making you bark like a dog or reveal your deepest secrets. (And if that were possible, I’d be on a beach somewhere, not working.)
Hypnosis is actually a completely natural state of focused attention—the same kind of state you’re in when you’re lost in a movie, driving on autopilot, or fully absorbed in a thought.
In that state, your brain quiets the noise a bit… and that’s where change becomes easier.
You’re still aware.
You’re still in control.
You can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to do.
What you can do is:
✨ shift patterns
✨ reduce stress
✨ build confidence
✨ break habits that no longer serve you
The more I learn, the more I see how powerful (and practical) this work really is.
Hypnosis isn’t about losing control—it’s about using your mind more intentionally.

Whew. December. Am I right? Did anyone else fall off the self-care wagon, only to then be run over by it? I think it backed over me for good measure. I know - it's Christmas week - but on this winter solstice, how can you find time to slow down just a little?
