Additionally, the Virginia Cribbage Championships are held in January each year in Williamsburg. Players compete each season for Grass Roots Points which determine the club champion at the end of the season. The current season began on September 3, 2020.

Eight weeks from the end of the season and six playes have a shot at the Club Championship! Only fifty-seven GRP's separate #1 from #6. The average winning card this year has been 14.6 so with 8 more weeks there are 120 GRP's in play, plenty available to whittle down that 57! The Richmond Cribbage Club lost a long standing member on November 5 when Randy Denissen, aged 69, succumbed to complications following surgery to correct a pulmonary condition. Randy was an active member of the ACC, supporting Mid-Atlantic sanctioned tournaments and Grass Roots play. He had recently attained the Grass Roots Silver Award and was a former club champion. He was the Grass Roots points leader this season. He was a tenacious competitor and exhibited a ready sense of humor win or lose. His contributions will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
