I want to give a big CONGRATULATIONS to my client, Lisa Z.!!! Lisa has lost 11lbs, training twice a week with WorkIt over the past 3 months! And we are expecting more dramatic results as we enter her second phase... Awesome work Lisa! Keep it up!!!!
I just finished a training call with Liz of Healthy Living with Liz, Deanna of Authentic Spark Life Coaching with Deanna Danski and a trainer from Blog Talk Radio. We are in the process of launching a Blog Talk Radio station. The station will be co-hosted by a holistic health coach, life coach and personal trainer. Any suggestions for a name? The winner will be rewarded. :-)

During the holiday time, between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day, we are blessed with family gatherings and parties with friends and coworkers. Along with these celebrations comes tasty food and drink! and cookies! :)
It's easy to see how the calories can add up pretty quickly if we aren't careful and then the scale somehow magically reads a higher number!!!? Ahhhh!
Calm down. Eating is going to happen. The cool thing is that our bodies need calories to live! You can find your basal metabolic rate (the amount of calories your body burns daily) here:
http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blcalcalc.htm
Anything over that is going to add up and once it's at 3500 calories...BAM that's an extra pound of fat on your body. Yikes! Consider the events you have coming up and modify your daily diet accordingly. If you are going to eat 500 extra calories on Friday, eat 500 less on Thursday. And don't forget that exercise and adding muscle mass will help burn those calories!
Aslo, there's an app called MyFitnessPal that helps you keep track of what you're putting in your body and it even has a neat scanner tool to make it much easier!
So, enjoy the holiday season and the food. Don't get carried away and try to eat quality items over quantity! Happy Holidays!!!

Rewards are better than punishment. Rather than having to do something because you didn't workout or do what you said you would, give yourself a REWARD when you do it! Positive reaffirming works better in the mind and body ;)
My reward for working out is wine. I LOVE wine and will do pretty much anything I have to so I can have it.
What's your reward?! It doesn't have to be food or drink related. Possibly a massage for reaching a goal? Or maybe your husband washes your car for you? :) I want to know what you do to positively affirm your goals. What's your reward?
Happy Election Day everyone! I hope you had/have a pleasant experience at the polls and that you are enjoying this moment in history.

Quick homemade snack idea...bake a handful of almonds at 400 degrees for 5-10 min., remove from oven and sprinkle with cinnamon, cocoa powder or a pinch of sea salt. Yummy!
