🎉 Congratulations to Karen Parker, the recipient of the first-ever Fitness DAWGS Scholarship! 🎉

Karen, a graduating senior at Hopewell High School, has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship as she prepares to continue her educational journey this fall at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University majoring in Nursing.

This moment is especially meaningful to us because Hopewell Public Schools was the very first school division to implement the Fitness DAWGS curriculum. Seeing students like Karen excel reminds us why we do this work each and every day.

We celebrate Karen and can't wait to see all she will accomplish. 💙💛🐾

Stress has a way of sneaking up on us. Over the past two weeks, I found myself feeling overwhelmed, easily irritated, and mentally drained because of everything that I HAD to do. Then I did something simple — I went on a bike ride. 🚴🏾‍♀️

That movement shifted my entire attitude. What started as stress turned into gratefulness. My mind became clearer, my mood improved, and I was reminded how grateful I am that I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY to do the things I do. 💛

Sometimes we think exercise is only about weight loss or fitness, but moving your body also helps:
✨ Reduce stress
✨ Improve mood
✨ Increase energy
✨ Clear your mind
✨ Improve sleep

Don’t Drop the Ball Now!!!

We’re in May… and if we’re being honest—this is when routines start to slip.

Later bedtimes.
Quick meals.
Less movement.

Summer is so close, it’s tempting to say, “We’ll get back on track later.”

But here’s a gentle reminder for all of us—adults and children:

💡 Don’t drop the ball now.

Healthy habits don’t just apply to our children—they start with us.

Our kids are watching what we do every single day.

The good news? It doesn’t take a lot.
✔️ Drink more water
✔️ Take a short walk
✔️ Add a fruit or vegetable to your meals
✔️ Stick to a consistent bedtime

Small things. Done consistently.

❤️ I’ll be honest—this is the time of year I have to check myself too. It’s easy to say, “I’ll start again next week…”

But I’ve learned—there is no perfect reset.

There’s just the next right choice.

It felt like a LOT—and every mistake would be broadcast for EVERYONE to see.

I was afraid.

But I was reminded:
👉🏽 In order to grow, we must do hard things… even scared.

Growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. It happens when we show up anyway.

So I’ll ask you:
What are you avoiding because it feels uncomfortable?
