This is a late post, but had a good weekend of basketball last weekend, finishing in the semi finals of the I-64 classic, going 2-2. This is a long post, but I want to give credit where credit is due as everyone of these guys made contributions.

In pool play, we dropped one to Lincoln Arsenal and got a win over Montgomery Select. Against Lincoln, Barber led the way with 12 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals. Alexander pitched in 7 points, 3 rebounds and a steal while Robinson had 4 points and 3 rebounds and Vanwinkle rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Salyer, Rose and Henson helped control the boards, pulling down 4, 6 and 1 rebounds.
In the 32-21 win over Mo Select, Alexander had a big game with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 8 steals. Barber had 8 points and 5 rebounds. Rose and Salyer finished the scoring with 6 each, while Rose had 8 rebounds and Salyer had 9. Robinson pulled down 2 rebounds, while Vanwinkle had 1 and Henson had a rebound and a steal.

In the elimination round, we matched up with Mo Select again and they jumped on us, requiring a big second half to pull out the 32-27 win. Salyer and Alexander led the way in scoring with 9 each. Salyer also pulled down 15 rebounds and had 4 steals and an assist. Alexander ad 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Barber contributed 8 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Robinson, Rose and Gillum each pitched in 2 points. Rose also had 7 rebounds, while Robinson and Gillum had 2 and 1.
Once again, Lincoln Arsenal had our number taking us out in the semi finals. Alexander finished with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 steals. Row had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Salyer ad 4 points and 7 rebounds. Barber and Gillum each had 2 points and Barber finished with 6 rebounds while Gillum had 2. Robinson pulled down 3 rebounds and Henson chipped in 1.

Love seeing these guys develop. We’ll be back in action this weekend at Madison Middle against Boyle Playmakers and West Jessamine.

The Raptors took a few tough losses last weekend at the Future Rebels Shootout, dropping both pool play games to Lincoln County and Casey County. Against Lincoln, scoring was led by Salyer with 6, followed by Barber with 3, Robinson with 2 and Gillum with 1. Against Casey, Rose led the way with 6, while Barber and Salyer had 4 and 1.
The Raptors put up a better effort in tournament play looking for the upset bid of the #1 seed, Lincoln County. While the Raptors were clinging to a lead in the second half, Lincoln used a 10 point run to put us away, 26-14. Robinson and Barber handled all the scoring in this one with 8 and 6.

We’ll be back in action this weekend at the I-64 Classic in Mount Sterling!

The Raptors were back in action this past weekend at the Berea Showcase, going 1-1 on the day. It started with a tough loss to the Southside Warriors. Down 8-6 at halftime, the Raptors couldn’t overcome a strong second half start by the Warriors, dropping the game 28-14. In the second game, the Raptors found themselves down at halftime again to the Boyle County Playmakers. This time, a big second half by the Raptors pushed them to a 19-11 victory. We’ll be back in action this weekend (1/11-1/12) at the Flemingsburg Full Court Frenzy!

The Raptors kicked off the 2024-25 season over the last month with some strong scrimmages against Montgomery County, Lincoln County and the Southside Warriors.

This was followed by the first two games of the season at the Montgomery County Showcase, where we dropped games to Montgomery County and a tough Central Kentucky Xtreme.

We got into the win column at the Richmond Heat Holiday Classic with a victory over the Boyle County Playmakers, but dropping one in pool play against the Bluegrass Buckets. A tournament victory over the Playmakers again was followed by an 8 point loss in the semi finals to the same Lincoln County team that handled us earlier in a scrimmage.

Looking forward to the rest of the season!
