What a great first USLPL event in Indianapolis. Played some tough teams and we all started to gel as the hours went on. We even won our first dream breaker. I was amazed how well we worked together only meeting each other 72 hours prior. We ended up in 6th place at end of the weekend - right in the middle of the all the teams. Looking forward to Hatboro, PA in a couple of weeks.

Who would have thought that after first trying pickleball in high school gym class that David would be joining the Rocketeers as a Senior Pro?!? Shoulder issues brought him to pickleball "for real" in 2016 and there's been no turning back. David's favorite place to play is center court at the US Open in Naples, FL.

April started playing pickleball back in April of 2022, when she was drawn to a fun, competitive way to stay active and meet new friends. "As a college athlete, I missed the team camaraderie and competition!" You can find April on many of the outdoor courts in Dallas, TX no matter how hot it gets... but also loves to take it indoors at The Picklr and Chicken n Pickle.

The Rocketeers are excited to announce that Brenda Nunez will be joining the roster for the 2025 season. Brenda was introduced to pickleball during COVID when the tennis courts were few and far between, but pickleball was available! The team aspect of the USLPL is the part that she is most excited for, saying "It would be a different format than what we are used to. It brings in team energy where we can strategize, support each other, and rally together for a common goal."

They say curiosity killed the cat... but in this case it was the curiosity as to why "there was always a hundred people crowded on the pickleball side of the tennis courts", is what got Klara Nowak into pickleball years ago. She shares the sentiment of many of her teammates that she's most excited to "meet cool new people and compete as a team!" Her favorite place to play is wherever the Rocketeers are playing!

Stephen was skeptical to start playing pickleball at first when relatives suggested that he might enjoy it, since he had played tennis for so long. But, "after my first 'learn-to-play' session, and seeing how much of my tennis background translated to the game, I was hooked." His favorite place to play is a small neighborhood park that happens to only be a half a mile away from the home they purchased in the Milwaukee area. Stephen has even edited his work schedule to get out earlier to make sure he can play there!

About 6 years ago, Michael was introduced to the game of pickleball by a former tennis teammate who had to leave the game due to a back injury. Michael is most excited to about the indoor team format that the Rocketeers and the USLPL have adopted, as it reminds him of "college tennis". His favorite place to play outdoors is Newport Beach, but indoors he believes Dallas has many great venues to play in.

"After competing for over 16 years, playing regular tournaments has lost it's luster for me. Being a member of the USLPL with The Richmond Rocketeers has me totally jazzed as I've always enjoyed team sports better than individual sports. I love the camaraderie and cheering on my teammates." Rachael's Dad brought her to the sport after he picked it up at age 79! She honors his memory by bringing his paddle with her to have courtside at every match and coaching session paying tribute to his "torch of kindness and good sportsmanship."

If you're looking for Robin Keener you can find her at her friend's backyard court that they affectionately call, Pickelball Palace. Robin is most excited about the opportunity to be on a "TEAM". After picking up a paddle 3.5 years ago, she quickly turned her attention to becoming a certified coach to help others foster their love of the game.
