We went 3-0 in pool play on Saturday, but lost in the single-elimination gold bracket to the Regulators (who ended up playing in the championship game). Definitely not the results we were working for, but sometimes we learn more from our losses than we do our wins.

July was filled with unique softball opportunities for more than half our girls; opportunities we were excited for them to take advantage of. But after a crazy 6 weeks the girls are finally back together! 🙌🏼

In the last tournament of the summer season, and the first time together since the Philana Thompson Summer Blast in Farmington back in June, the girls are the Dazzling Diamond 18U tournament champions. 🏆

Recapping the weekend: on Saturday they went 2-1 as they worked through some rust & exectution issues, only to find their groove on Sunday beating the Stingers, NM Suncats - Chavez, and Poison - Cordova in single elimination bracket play. Overall it was a productive weekend as they produced 60 runs while only allowing 12. Great job ladies! 🖤🩶🤍

This weekend Olivia & Kylee had the chance to help NM Stixx play late into Saturday evening at El Gigante in Las Cruces. Thank you Ray Loz, Ashley Nicole and the entire Stixx family for giving our girls the opportunity to get in some work.

Meanwhile our Santa Fe Little League contingent made good use of their time on the road and stopped in Brownwood, TX for the College Showcase Skills Camp & Games.

As summer comes to an end we are excited for what fall has in store for our girls!

After dropping their first game in Senior League Softball Southwest Regional Tournament in Alexandria, Louisiana to Texas West, our girls and their Santa Fe Little League teammates have come roaring back to beat Texas East and trounce Louisiana earning themselves a berth in the Championship game tomorrow evening!!! Hard to explain how excited we are for everyone of these young ladies. Go get em girls!!!

Kiela, Laila and Team New Mexico are bringing home the Gold! The girls were undefeated going into the gold medal match against Manitoba having scored 71 runs while only allowing 10! Unfortunately the championship game had to be canceled due to weather and field conditions. As a result both team New Mexico and Manitoba were declared winners and received their gold medals during a ceremony on Saturday night. Congratulations girls! Go New Mexico!

Team New Mexico went undefeated in their preliminary games beating Nova Scotia, Alberta, Eastdern Door & the North, and Saskatchewan. They have earned a bye in the quarter finals and await the winner of Britsh Columbia vs Wisconsin.

Our Kiela and Laila are wheels up and bound for Canada to participate in the North American Indigenous Games! First games up will be against Nova Scotia on Monday and then Alberta on Tuesday. Enjoy the experience girls!

On that note, last night some of our girls joined the Santa Fe Little League Senior Softball State Champions in a scrimmage against Team New Mexico before they departed for Canada this morning. We are grateful for the opportunities that our family and friends in this softball community extend to our girls.

That was exciting! Our girls and their Santa Fe Little League teammates battled all the way back from an 8-0 deficit to win the Senior Softball State title by a score of 12-10 vs Copper Little League and punch their ticket to represent New Mexico in the Senior League World Series in Alexandra, Louisiana! It was so exciting to see each of these girls find ways to impact the game on both sides of the ball. Congratulations girls, Coaches Maria, Julian and Melissa!

Our Santa Fe Little League girls and their teammates are absolutely rolling!!! We are excited to be rooting them on this evening at Cibola Little League where they will compete for the Senior Softball State Championship!! Let's go Rey, Jamie, Abby and Leah!!! 🖤🩶🤍

We ventured to Farmington this weekend to play in the 4th Annual Philana Thompson Summer Blast and are thrilled with that decision. The tournament was extremely well run and the facility and competition was top-notch! While the girls didn't come home with any team hardware we are happy with their well earned 4th place finish, especially considering the top 4 teams all came from our pool.

Our roster was thin this weekend but these 9 young ladies proved to be some hellacious little warriors! They pushed through all their individual aches and pains all weekend and earned themselves 8 games until the Rivercats 18U finally sent us home Sunday afternoon. We couldn't be more proud of the progess this young group has made in such a short period of time. 🖤🩶🤍

These young ladies had a productive first outing together and even managed to win a little bit of hardware along the way. And while we aren't ones to get too high or low on winning rings, they do serve as well earned rewards and reminders for the girls that they are doing something right.

The work they have put in at practices and jovial chemistry they've developed has been so much fun to watch. We knew going into their first tournament together it was going to be about learning each other's rhythms and tendencies and building trust in new faces. They passed with flying colors. They made spectacular plays all weekend long, never let one error become two and had each other’s backs every step of the way. This is going to be an exciting group to watch grow together.

🥎NM Choice will be holding an open tryout/practice to fill our roster's few remaining spots.

📅The workout will be Saturday the 27th from 1:30PM-4:00PM at Bernalillo High School Softball field.

This weekend our Kiela had the chance to guest play on her sister Bryana's NM Rogue 14U team and was hitting bombs! 💪🏾 It is hard to believe that she is only now going to be a freshman considering that she's been up with us since 2019 when she was only 10 yrs old and was playing varsity at Cleveland this past season as an 8th grader! 😎

NM Reign 14U has their first workout of 2022 scheduled for Sunday the 23rd at 9AM at Cleveland HS.

If you have a 7th or 8th grade player that will attend Cleveland High School, and has an interest in trying out for the high school roster one day, we would like to invite her to attend.

At the practice she will have an opportunity to workout with the girls on the roster, meet the coaches, and get an idea of the team's plans for the upcoming spring season. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

The last of our 12 year olds is celebrating her birthday today! 🎂 Whether she's our starting pitcher, pinch running, locking down the outfield, or supporting her team from the dugout, she gives 100% and will have an impact on the game. 💪🏽 She's the type of player and teammate you can only hope to have on your roster. She's lightening quick, has a 1000 watt smile, is as fearless as she is kind, and just barely turning 13 years old today. Have a great day, Leah! 🎉🥎🎁

This girl has been with us since our inaugural 12U season when she was only 10 years old! And when we aged up to 14U earlier this year and then made the jump to 16U, she didn’t miss a beat. 💪🏽 She’s as talented and dependable as they come, and officially a teenager! 🙃 Happy 13th Birthday to our SS and leadoff hitter, Kiela! 🎁🎉🥎

In her very first Varsity Tournament our Heaven Handy (8th grade 🤯) placed third! 🥉💪🏽 Congratulations, Heaven! We'll see you back on the field in the spring! 🥎

After a very frustrating Saturday, the girls went on to win all three of their bracket elimination games today to place second in the NM NFA Fall Championships. These girls have a way of doing things the hard way, which is maddening given the amount of work they put in and the talents they possess. After yesterday’s performance, we asked, challenged, or to be frank, outright demanded that today for every second of every inning, of every game, that they live up to the program’s expectations. They responded. Back at it this week.

We lost one, won one, & lost one in the girls first PGF experience. Oddly enough, they played some of their best softball in stretches of both of their losses.

With repetition and experience will come the consistency they are searching for, and with that consistency will come confidence. Not confidence for an at bat, an inning, or a game because things are going well. The type of confidence you have when your opponent knows, as well as you do, what they are about to get from you. They'll get there. Back at it tomorrow for bracket play.
