Mrs. Alberta Crowe of Syracuse, NY devoted her life to bowling, bringing tireless enthusiasm and focus to solving problems and developing programs that benefited the industry. She gave generously of her time and effort to WIBC and the wider bowling community.

First elected to the WIBC Board of Directors in 1939, she was appointed public-relations director and advanced through the board’s leadership ranks. She became second vice president before being elected president in 1960, a role she held for 21 years. During her presidency, WIBC membership grew from about 1.5 million to more than 4.2 million.

Over 42 years of service to WIBC, Mrs. Crowe also was elected to an unprecedented fifth term as president of the National Bowling Council. She served as national chairman and treasurer of the Bowlers Victory Legion (BVL Fund), and as a director and executive committee member of the National Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum. She chaired the museum’s board from 1976 to 1978. In 1982 Mr. Alberta Crowe was inducted in to the USBC Hall of Fame. A true legend of the sport.

🎳 HAPPY 2 YEARS OF BOWLING IS LIFE!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been two years since I started the Bowling Is Life page! In that time, it has grown to over 2,800 followers, and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support!

Over the last two years, I’ve made some amazing connections with fellow bowlers, followers, professional bowlers, bowling center owners, and bowling enthusiasts. It’s crazy to think that when I started this journey, I had no idea how far this page would go or how many incredible people I would meet along the way.

From people reaching out to tell me how much they enjoy the page to professional bowlers sending me some amazing items, every bit of support means more to me than you know. I truly appreciate it all, and I will never take any of it for granted.

Thank you to everyone who has followed, supported, shared, commented, and helped make Bowling Is Life what it is today! I love learning about, sharing, and talking about a sport that means so much to me. Bowling has brought so many great people into my life, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

Here’s to two amazing years and many more to come! 🎳❤️

Jack Reichert, a distinguished leader in the bowling industry, retired in 1995 from his roles as chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer of Brunswick Corporation. Throughout his tenure, Reichert was unwavering in his commitment to elevating bowling as a medal sport in the Olympics, spearheading initiatives that underscored his passion for the sport. Under his leadership, Brunswick emerged as a preeminent force in the bowling and recreation sector, marking significant growth and innovation.

Reichert's influence extended beyond Brunswick, as he served on the boards of directors for Strike Ten Entertainment, Inc. and the Professional Bowlers Association, further solidifying his commitment to the sport. His journey began as a pinsetter for Hall of Famer Ned Day in Milwaukee, a humble start that laid the foundation for his illustrious career. In recognition of his remarkable contributions to bowling, Jack Reichert was inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame in 1998, a testament to his enduring legacy in the sport. In honor of Mr. Reichert the Jack F. Reichert Business Scholarships at University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee is named after him. As long as the Reichert learning center at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of fame. Truly a influential person to the sport of bowling.

Ellen Kelly of St. Louis, MO was a trailblazer in the world of women's sports, particularly known for her role in promoting women's bowling. She wasn't just an advocate; she was the first secretary of the Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC). Back in 1915, she took the initiative to connect women bowlers nationwide by reaching out to bowling proprietors with her letters. The following year after the St. Louis Tournament 40 women from 11 different cites came together this meeting laid the groundwork to the foundation for what would become the WIBC.

As a competitive bowler, Ellen was part of the Progress team from St. Louis, which made history by winning the very first WIBC Championship Tournament team-event title in 1916. Her contributions to the sport were so significant that she was honored with induction into the USBC Hall of Fame in 1979. Ellen Kelly's passion and dedication truly helped shape women's bowling into what it is today!
