I constantly find validation for my chosen professional path. The fact that I get to regularly craft and connect to my creativity and encourage others to do the same is one of my favorite parts of my job.
Last weekend I traveled to Rochester, New York to lead Reclaim Your Energy and Joy: a retreat for caregivers and guardians. This was hosted by the strong center of developmental disability and research, which is so committed to supporting its caregivers and guardians. Because they know how much this work matters. I have read so much research that all says the same thing. The best way we support our neurodivergent population is by supporting their caregivers and guardians. Because when our cup isn’t full, we can’t show up with integrity and compassion for those that we so desperately want to raise up and elevate to reach their highest potential.

If you are a caregiver or guardian that has lost your spark, your spark of joy, your spark of inspiration, that very energy which continues to motivate and invigorate you, then reach out today. I promise it doesn’t have to be this way. There is a different path forward. And you are not alone in your experience.

Something I can do and do well right now is a podcast to support parents of neurodivergent individuals. And if you happen to be neurodivergent yourself on the journey of supporting neurodivergent individuals then this is even more relevant for you.
You are not alone. This is your village.

Cocreating Wellness Welcome back!

While in recovery from my TBI last year, I’ve taken a step back from some of my larger rolls in terms of curriculum planning, teacher trainjngs, and corporate consultations, and instead have been getting my hands down and dirty, teaching social emotional learning at three local elementary schools.
As the school year has progressed my relationships with the students have gotten deeper and more meaningful. The work that we have done together has shifted from creating a calm atmosphere in a school environment to laying foundational lessons that will guide these children for the rest of their lives.
Today, one of my students ran up to me with these flowers that he picked for me. And it felt like a symbol for all the good work that we do in the world, and why working with children matters so much. Forever thankful for the work I get to do, and the people that I do it with.

Happy May Day my beautiful friends!!!
Give this little diddy a listen to nourish your mind and then go outside put those bare feet on the grass and take a deep breath in through the nose and a deep breath out through the nose.
I promise you won’t regret it!
