Although my "schooling is complete", I will never stop learning, I continue training in Gung Fu, stage combat, fitness, and other physical performance to this day, along with continuously study from different sources for further intellectual and physical development. So body shaming is wrong right?

Share/discuss

Here's something that has always bothered me, and as I further my career as a fitness trainer, movement coach and performer, it grates on me more and more-

Two words: "Show off"

It is terrible if someone is actually rubbing their skills in your face and trying to hurt you, but I have found those examples rare. I cannot stand anyone shaming someone else, even as a joke for practicing their skills that they have worked hard to develop. Perhaps they are trying to inspire you, maybe you have inspired them, but don't shame someone for genuinely loving movement or fitness and pushing themselves or doing extra, unless their intent is negative, which again is rare.

I've heard these words against me many times when all I want is to inspire others with movement and love what I do. Any small skill I have earned through hard work was done so by studying in the shadows of those more skilled than myself. I never called my teachers or colleagues "show offs", I worked hard, sweat, bled, failed and kept trying.

If you admire something someone does and want that skill, don't call "show off'. Maybe say "Nice job! Can you give me any tips?" Encourage each other.

Today while training I heard "Show off" towards another and it broke my heart.

We are all on our own fitness journey, but no matter where we are, we can lift each other up.

Please lift each other up:

Do:
-Encourage each other.
-Communicate, ask advice, and give advice when asked

Love to all, keep moving.

Working on theatrical combat/ kung fu choreography with a fellow martial artist-
"We're not martial artists right now, we're magicians."

[06/19/16]   3 Minute workout:
burpees for 1 minute
Leg lifts on back (for abs) for one minute
as many push ups as you can do for 1 minute.

Don't forget to stretch afterward!

[05/23/16]   As I battle my own A.D.D., turns out I really enjoy writing curriculum for theatrical combat.
Currently working on full year, 2 semester syllabus

General information

TESTIMONIALS -Geoff Reddick, YNN reporter. "Justin served as my personal trainer for several months in 2012. He is an extremely dedicated and highly-skilled trainer, and will conform his unique workouts to your individual needs. Justin devotes most of his free time to studying the human form and learning the ways muscles interact with one another, and with the mind. Using that information, he is able to craft a fitness regimen specific to your goals. As a full-time, year-round high school athlete who had fallen far out of shape after a serious injury in college, I whole-heartedly endorse Justin's skill set. He was able to pay attention to my needs pertaining to my injury, while crafting a fitness regimen that challenged and fulfilled my desire to return to previous form. I encourage anyone to schedule a consultation with Justin and learn how his knowledge can be your benefit."
