She's Ready

Last Thursday, I tussled with myself on whether or not to participate in an anthology sharing my journey to motherhood.

Part of me was like, "Girl, nobody cares. You're not a mother." 🙄

While the other reminded me, "Your journey is still being written. Your words do matter."☺️

One would think it wouldn't be a reason to doubt or have a hard time jumping in, but it was.

I know I'm not a mama, yet, so do my words really matter?

If my words matter, what can I share to encourage, inspire, to usher women to my Daddy on their journeys?

Like, who cares that I tried to help my Daddy help me only for Him to put a check in my spirit that was like, "Ha, play with Me if you want to."

Almost set on NOT joining the project, there was a calming, definitive, "Do it," which I followed.

Now, I'm writing my story on my journey to motherhood.

My title: Grieving an Empty Womb

I'll highlight my unspoken jealousy -- or dare I say ENVY-- of other mothers and how He has worked with me to shift my negative emotions, thoughts, opinions, and feelings.

I'll share how I honestly was going to help Him help me. I had a WHOLE plan that would have taken me to Houston TX 🫣

Chil', I thought He would be on board for MY PLAN because it made much sense to meeeeeee. 🥴

"Many are the PLANS in [ Ebony's ] heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails," Proverbs 19:21 NIV.

Just know, His leadership and guidance are unmatched, top tier, sho' nuff no joke 😆

The title for the anthology is pending and will be shared soon. I'll be joining 7 other women who are ready, willing, and able to share their journeys, too.

The funny thing is, I thought this part of my journey would be silent, close to the chest, between me and my Jesus, one I talk to my Daddy about - privately.

I guess it won't be what I thought

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," Isaiah 55:8 NIV.

WHEW!

As I dive into this chapter, I can only - truthfully - lean into Him because ya girl can do it, but she can't do it. (Trust me, it makes sense lol)

"...for My power is made perfect in [ Ebony's ] weakness..." 2 Cor. 12:9 NIV

Coming Soon

How soon?

I don't know.

However, I'm trusting in what God has said concerning my empty, yet blessed womb.

When it does happen, trust that it will be by the grace of God that it has.

My hope is for my womb to carry and for me to birth a healthy little brown girl we can name Hannah Grace who we'll raise to be a force for God's Kingdom.

Hannah: the grace of God
Grace: the unmerited favor of God

Love is...

More than a word.

It's an action.

A sound.

A stolen moment in time.

Security and safety.

Love is
..felt in the stillness of a close hug.
..in the gentle kiss on the shoulder blade.
..seenk in the tears you weep.

With so many ways to express it, when creating your story, fiction or non-fiction, descriptive words for LOVE will do you some good when detailing how LOVE feels for you and those you speak of.

In what ways do you express LOVE?

Writer's Block Memoir Writing Prompts

9 of 25

Dear Little Ebony Nicole

Are you ready to write your next chapter with this writing prompt?

What would you say to the 5, 10, 15, or 20 year old you?

How would you encourage her to embrace the journey ahead?

What loving and leading words would you give her?

As she moves forward in life, what would you say to hear about God and His ever-present help?

The younger you, does she deserve an apology from...you?

..

For this chapter, there is no structure to give because it is an open letter to you.

Pour out what you want to say to your younger yourself.

End it with a prayer for your current and future self.

Cool beans?
Cool beans!

I Do This for My Kids

Are you ready to write the eighth chapter of your memoir using this writing prompt?

Inspiration
Dedication
Love
Guidance
Provision
Protector

Being a parent isn't easy.

From a teenage mom to a seasoned woman becoming a mom, both require patience and immediate growth in every area of your life.

Our Father understands the hardship one will and has faced.

In this chapter, discuss how you used His guided word to parent your child(ren).

Here's how you structure this chapter:

Open up with a shocking truth about being a parent. What does this truth mean to you and how did it become your truth?

How old were you when you became a parent, how did you feel, and respond, what did you think, did you hide it, share it, or deny it?

What Scriptures from the Bible helped you as a parent?

What are some successes and failures you experienced in parenthood?

What is the relationship like with your child(ren)?

What do you wish you had known before becoming a parent and how did the lack of knowing shape you as a parent and how you parented your child(ren)?

What are some biblical principles you instilled in your child(ren) that you were raised with or without?

Lastly, close out with how you view parenthood now. Give a few tips for parents who are younger than you or those who may be waiting for parenthood.

Listen, I'm not a mama, but taking care of my two nephews has changed me. I have a whole new set of concerns and worries lol, however, I wouldn't change it for the world.

It's So Hard to Say Goodbye

Are you ready to write the seventh chapter of your memoir using this writing prompt?

Not every goodbye is due to death.

Not every goodbye is hard to weather.

The reason for a goodbye varies and can affect us spiritually and emotionally.

In this chapter, share a goodbye story that changed you and drew you closer to God.

To structure this chapter, here's what you do...

Open it by describing where you are now regarding the goodbye. How do you feel? What's your life like now?

Then, how did the goodbye happen? What led up to it? Who was included? What was your relationship like with God beforehand?

Next, discuss the goodbye as it happened. What was said or not? How did you feel? What did you say to God? Talk about your emotions. What did you lose or gain?

Finally, what did you learn in that season of goodbye?

..
That's it!

You can do this.

Write the chapter of your manuscript.

Remember, it's just the draft. Get the information out of your head.

Stay focused.

We have a few more weeks to write our manuscripts using the Writer's Block Memoir Writing Prompts.

Got it?

Good!

Btw, what is the hardest goodbye for you?

#7 of 200!

I told myself to be one of the 200 women God commanded me to publish for free.

I told myself to stop playing and get the work done.

I told myself my words matter and that people are being stirred up by them.

I told myself it has been long enough and to stop playing in my Daddy's face about the book He said to write.

I told myself to lay out the plan, create the outline, type the first draft, and not to edit… yet.

I told myself to use AI to create the concept of the cover idea to share with my graphic designer.

I told myself to remember my target audience as I write so that I will be sure to write for them.

I told myself to pray to ensure I am writing for the audience He will send to me.

I told myself to talk about my process of writing "Relationship Goals".

I told myself, "Girl, you got this! Get your book done already."

I told myself, "I am Ebony Nicole, the 15× published author."

I told myself what I needed to hear.

Now, I believe in myself.

Writer's Block: Memoir Writing Prompts

6 of 25

Are you ready to write chapter six of your memoir using this writing prompt?

"God, I trust you with *this*, but *this*...nah."

It's late Monday night, and the last thing you want to do before going to bed is be honest about not trusting God.

But since you're up, you might as well write chapter six of your memoir.

In this chapter, we're talking about letting go of control over something and relinquishing it to God.

If you're like me, I can be a control freak. It comes from my childhood when things happened that I couldn't control.

Whatever I can control, I do.

However, whatever I *can* control but shouldn't is where trusting God comes in.

Through trials of loss and victory, He taught me when to let go and let Him do it.

So, I'll talk about my "let go and let God" moment in my book.

Will you?

Join me this Sunday. Sis, there's still room for you in the .

The debut book, Kingdom Finances, by Shekerra Dennis, encompasses much more than mere money. It involves our perspective on finances, our spending habits, our saving practices, and our stewardship. This is a topic that deserves greater discussion and consistent practice. God provides us with what we need, which may not always take the form of money or people.

In this book, we will explore God’s financial principles, focusing not only on money management but also on the responsible stewardship of everything He has entrusted to us with wisdom, faith, and intention.

As we wrap up our discussions, we’ll take a moment to reflect on the key lessons that will empower you to manage finances in alignment with God’s will and attain financial peace.
