my work here sowing the various molds I use and hope to show the many different ways plastic baits can be manipulated in their making to twist colors into a final product that cannot be found on store hooks. I began the tackle making journey over 50 years ago when I ordered a Herters fly tying kit using lawn mowing money. I was soon selling those flies to teachers at school and from there things just sort of took off. Today I work very closely with the Do-It Mold Corp located in Denver, Iowa as a volunteer product specialist on a team with others who love this work. Do-It offers a whole world of molds geared for the hobbyist soft-plastic bait injector from the raw beginner to the very experienced along with every conceivable product needed to make quality baits very, very reasonably. I also use several other sources for molds, all of which make quality molds with an affordable price point. Over the years I have been directly involved with the tackle industry by serving as staff at a field level or professional level or as a product specialist. My tenure with the many companies not only kept me in the midst of the most current tackle but it also helped allowed me to delve into a world of soft bait profiles, colors and actions that would otherwise have been hindered by cost alone. While I tend to focus on several aspects of the baits I make, it is perhaps color that I find most intriguing and challenging. Color has led me down roads in making soft plastic baits that many, myself included, either think impossible or just out of reach for the hobbyist. Regardless of the aspect, I love every part of this hobby. And the best part of this love affair is that nothing on this planet can beat the feeling of catching fish on baits and jigs that are made at home as a hobby.
