Rosalia Association for Community Enrichment

R.A.C.E. a local non-profit was formed through the hard work and efforts of many Rosalia, Malden, Thornton, and Pine City community members. It began with a Northwest Area Foundation Horizons grant in the fall of 2008 and was managed by Washington State University Extension.

Eighteen months later, we graduated the Horizons program and Rosalia Association for Community Enrichment was formed. Through months of evening meetings and the dedication of many, the bylaws and Articles of Incorporation were written. We are now officially a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. In the fall of 2008, roughly 100 community members gathered to share their ideas for community improvement and poverty reduction. The evening resulted in the naming of four areas of priority "action items" in which citizens would like to see someone take action. The areas were communication, recreation, jobs, and the John Wayne Trail.

Mission: To promote community enrichment and reduce poverty

We're working on turning the R.A.C.E.page onto the Community Garden page. I invite anyone who knows how to do it to contact me with any tech help!!!

To all visitors to this page, Rosalia Association for Community Enrichment R.A.C.E., was dissolved July 1 of 2014. For several years R.A.C.E.endeavored to support and encourage involvement and participation in all aspects of our community. We found success in several areas and sponsored programs that raised funds in some cases and simply provided entertainment and togetherness in others. We used grant funds to help put the new roof on the Performing Arts Center (Old Christian church), purchase a sound system, and start the Community Garden. At closing of the accounts for the association, the remaining members voted to put the remaining funds in the hands of Grannies Thrift Store, with the understanding that it would be spent in a way they considered most beneficial to the wider community. One lasting program that remains in force is our Rosalia Community Garden. The sum of $500.00 was placed in an account for the continuing needs of the garden, Thank you to Kathy and Ken Wilkes and Ron and Allene Hilfiker for their continued commitment to the garden. From this date forward any communications on this site will relate to the Community Garden as it continues to grow and provide fresh seasonal produce for Rosalia citizens. Stay tuned for gardening schedules and harvest information as it becomes available. Thank you all who played an important role in the development, life and experience of this organization.
