Tricolor all-around today at the VPBA Benefit Show. Super proud of all the smart rides. Rosie and Cloud were champs in SS Eq and SS Hunter with a challenging course. Bunny and Aubrey were high Poinht VA-bred, champions in the VPBA, reserve in pony hunters ( Congrats to Picturesque and Kacy in Champion), and won Pony Eq u/s and o/f. Irelyn and Damingo were stellar in the VPBA and were Reserve champions. And Eddyn and Kristin Wells’ green bean Tucker were champions in the lows…. First real courses at a show. A truly fun day with great kids and super parents. Support those local ponies! VA- bred are the best!
Horses teach us life lessons everyday. There were lots of obstacles before the first Morven Show of 2022, expired coggins, injured ponies and pinch-hitter ponies, but we overcame and had a great day! What a truly fun day! A real treat to spend the day with such hard-working, great kids and families. Rosie showed a pony she had never sat on til the eve of the show. Chloe piloted Wes in the SS with Sable laid up. Irelyn competed against adults and pros. Pippa shone on her sparkly white Romeo. Willa won leadline on our friend Charming ( Huge thanks to Ashley Fricke). Lili and River scored a 4th o/f in a big low hunters Lizzy and Aubrey were back together in the pony ring. Bunny was Reserve and 7th in the big derby. Irelyn was 2nd in the mini derby.
To say it was cold, windy and miserable at our First show of the season at Sandstone is an understatement. Great rides prevailed. River and Lili were champions in the Benefit. Then Lili and Wescott were champs in a big horse pleasure division. Thanks to Lizzy for helping Wes dust off the many cob webs and actually jump at a show. They won the hack and the blue in the big Eq on the flat. Willa aced her first-ever leadline despite being an iceberg. Kudos to the new food truck Lucy! And huge thanks to Lindsey, Maggie and Kathy for shriving with big smiles on their faces.
This is Longacre Trinket, the very first pony I trained at Longacre Farm, with her very first rider, Ryan Wilcoxon Harris. Ryan went on to a brilliant riding career and Trinket was her very first pony.
Not every rider will be able to compete at the national level. But Upperville leadline has given so many young riders a taste of the history and glamour. And lifetime memories. How sad the opportunity has been dashed in half. Don’t disappoint the kids. And for that matter, the vendors, trainers, grandparents ….

It is with great happiness I can tell you all…..Katie Hess made the ultimate, selfless choice to find her first pony and best pal Sweet Dreams “Bella” a lovely final chapter in life. Congratulations to Heidi Masemer Brown and the entire Masemer family on becoming the new guardians of this lovely mare. Therapeutic riding, trail rides and her own littles. It’s a full circle moment for me as My daughter learned to ride on Heidi and Wendy’s ponies Chee Chee and Buster. So happy to give the next generation at Gunnells Run a wonderful pony to learn with.

Camille and Mimi are in need of a new home. These 7 yr old sisters have travelled with their guardians through a barn move and u fortunately can’t follow on the next barn transition. These beautiful, loving girls are very people friendly and would even make lovely house cats. They are not huge on big dogs but unphased by pretty much everything. They are spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Please help us find these barn kitties a new domain to rule. Please pm and I will connect you with their guardians. Only a beautiful life for these deserving girls. Thanks so much.
Katie and Athos. Growing up together
Nothing better then lucky girls meeting new pony partners. Congratulations Lane on your new girl Roanly Hearts. And another happy congratulations to Caroline on her lease of “Monkey.”
