Bennet B showed a strong eye at the plate on Saturday, walking three times while helping Roxbury Gaels Fall 10U to an 11-3 victory over Marauders 10U Fall 10U.
A groundout by Oliver A put Marauders on the board in the top of the first.
Isaiah G walked with the bases loaded to help Roxbury Gaels tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Marauders regained the lead in the top of the second after Vincent R drew a walk and another run came home on a wild pitch.
Roxbury Gaels answered quickly in the bottom half of the inning. Flynn G drove in a run on a flyout, Bryce M brought home another on a groundout, Bennet doubled to center field, and CJ O added another run on a fielder’s choice as the Gaels surged in front.
An error extended the Roxbury Gaels lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the third, and the Gaels continued to pull away from there on their way to the 11-3 victory.
Hudson S earned the win for Roxbury Gaels .The hurler allowed one hit and three runs, two earned, over two innings while striking out three and walking four. John V and Bennet each added scoreless innings in relief to keep the Marauders off the board the rest of the way.
CJ provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Roxbury Gaels with two runs batted in. Bryce led the Gaels with two hits in four at-bats from the leadoff spot.
Roxbury Gaels also showed patience throughout the lineup, drawing 15 walks. Gavin T, Bennet, and Ryan B each reached three times via the walk, consistently putting pressure on the Marauders’ defense. Gavin also stole two bases.
Ryan also turned in a solid game behind the plate, providing steady defense at catcher and helping the Gaels navigate the Marauders’ lineup throughout the game.
Next up for Roxbury Gaels is a matchup against Kinnelon Colts on Sunday.
