DC Elite Summer League Starts June 15

Would you believe in the 10th grade I was the sixth man on our varsity basketball team?

I couldn’t afford exposure camps.
So I stayed on the playgrounds.
The gyms.
Every run I could find.

If you want to be good at something, you have to put the work in.
That’s not just sports — that’s life.

Everybody they said was better than me, I proved them wrong.
Even at the McDonald’s All-American Game, they told me I didn’t belong.
I was the last pick.
They even gave my number away.

I’ve never had a chip on my shoulder.
It’s always been a cement block.

And I carry it with pride. I Am Derrick

Clothing insecurity is real - and it affects education more than people realize.
Through the DC Elite Spin Cycle Playoffs, we turned basketball into a permanent solution.
