My man is 6’7” and has a true disadvantage over people. So I’ve been teaching him how to lean back to defend jumpers trying to get in with the lead hook! He’s looking pretty good!

Teaching my son Zander the art of boxing! He’s already a great wrestler and football player so now it’s time for more. He grew up in the gym but hasn’t done any striking for at least 5 years. He’s been training about a month now and this is only his 3rd round ever hitting the mitts! Looking pretty good for a big 12 year old. A right handed southpaw just like his old man!

It was my 41st birthday on Saturday and I celebrated in Last Vegas! Took 5 days off from punching this guy . So I had to get one round in after class before picking up my boys from Grammy! Hands felt pretty good!! What do you think?

Get in your double end bag work! Great for working timing and speed of your punches. Always start simple with straight punches to get bag traveling in and out directly at you. Jab, double jab, cross, 1-2, 1-1-2, 1-2-1, 1-2-1-2. Once you can hit bag precisely with all your straight punch combinations start adding in hooks and then uppercuts. It can be challenging to hit every time throwing a punch, don’t get discouraged and focus on seeing the bag each time you punch at it! Last thing, always have fun! Double end is one of my favorites to use and more fun every time because it’s challenging!

Felt like a day to break out the little 12oz. bag gloves and work speed punches! Different gloves are good for different types of focus during training. With the lighter and smaller gloves my hand speed is much quicker than when wearing the 16oz. Gloves! Also I started my fighting career as a and after a couple years of training I started practicing conventional stance as well. I first did it so I could teach boxing and Muay Thai to most people as the stance of the majority. To this day I still feel my is a little better, what do you think of the punches from each stance? Is one seem better than the other?
