To cap off the session, everyone participated in a fun ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ-๐๐ผ-๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ถ๐น๐น, applying the striking motions they had just practiced and getting immediate feedback on their movement, timing, and coordination.

Through these simple but purposeful movements, we're working on balance, coordination, mobility, focus, and cognitive health -- all while having fun and supporting one another as a community.

๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐: While air-hitting is invaluable for developing proper mechanics, coordination, flow, and muscle memory, ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Both forms of practice are essential. Air-hitting teaches us how to move; target work teaches us whether those movements truly connect. Together, they help transform technique into skill.

There were no regular training sessions the past two Sundays (Eskrima de Campo JDC-IO) and Mondays, but we were still able to hold make-up sessions on the past two Wednesdays for our Letโs Sticks Together Low-Impact Eskrima group.

Even with smaller groups, the sessions remained meaningful and productive as we continued refining our flowing strikes, coordination, timing, and movement patterns together.
๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐: Itโs always good to have alternative training days so students can continue practicing and stay connected to the movements instead of going too long without training. Consistency helps reinforce what has already been learned and prevents the body from โforgettingโ the motions.
More importantly, however, growth truly comes from regular individual practice between sessions. Even a few minutes of mindful repetition at home can help improve familiarity, confidence, flow, and retention. Group training guides and inspires us -- but personal practice is where the movements gradually become our own.

After our ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ณ๐น๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ๐, I introduced a series of movements that were actually a ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฑ๐ผ๐๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ #๐ฎ (๐ญโ๐ฐ) -- though I didnโt label it as such. We then practiced ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฎ #๐ญ (๐ญโ๐ฐ), but instead of progressing straight through, we focused on ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐ป ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐ด๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐, allowing everyone to become more comfortable and familiar with the motions.
Rather than presenting it as something new or different, the goal was to let the students ๐ฒ๐
๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐บ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ -- to learn each strike and combination without the pressure of remembering names or sequences. By the end, many began to notice that the patterns felt like ๐ผ๐ข๐๐ง๐ง๐, but from the other side -- which is exactly what ๐ผ๐ข๐๐ง๐ง๐ #2 represents.
๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐: Sometimes the best way to learn is not by labeling, but by doing. Breaking movements into smaller, repeatable segments helps build familiarity, confidence, and understanding. When students are allowed to discover patterns on their own, the learning becomes more natural and lasting -- what was once unfamiliar begins to feel intuitive, and the system reveals itself through experience.
