How about an extra inning walk-off winner for College Glen in the Minors (8-10) Section Tournament today? Yes please! To make it even more exciting, CG trailed 7-1 early before mounting a huge comeback and eventually tying it in the bottom of the 5th, thanks in part to a 3-run home run by Colton Hoffman, his second HR of the game!
After Pocket (D7) scored their ghost runner to take the lead in the top of the 7th, College Glen came back with 2 in their half to walk it off 9-8.
CG advances to play Woodcreek (D54) on Monday at 5:30 at Ponderosa LL. The winner will play Tri City in the Championship Game on Tuesday. Goooo CG!
Unfortunately the news wasn't so good for the Arden teams today. In Majors, Arden tried to pull off a big comeback too, but feel a run short. Trailing Land Park (D7) 9-3 into the 6th inning, Arden scored 5 and had the bases loaded, but couldn't get the tying run across and fell 9-8. So after two nice wins to start the tournament, back-to-back one-run losses knocks them out. It was a great season for Arden at the Majors level who won both the District TOC and All Stars banners!
In the 9-11 tournament, Arden was eliminated today by West Sacramento (D6) 11-1.
Great season, Arden. One District 5 team still standing.

Three District 5 teams were in action today at Sections, and two got wins!
After winning their first two games, Arden Majors went to extra innings and scored 2 in the top of the 7th before giving up 3 in the bottom half to lose a tough one, 4-3 to El Dorado Hills (D54).
They're back at it Sunday at 6:00 against Land Park (D7) who they've already beaten once in the tournament. The winner of that game moves into the Championship Game Monday against El Dorado Hills.
At the Minors (8-10) level, College Glen earned their first victory of the tournament, knocking out West Sacramento (D6) 15-7 in an elimination game today. CG gets another shot at Pocket (D7) Sunday at 11:30.
After losing their opening on Friday, the Arden 11s bounced back with an 8-4 win over Tri City (D11) in a loser's bracket game. They move on to play West Sacramento (D6) at 12:00 on Sunday.
All three teams are playing on Sunday, let's goooo District 5!

Sections continued tonight for our District 5 teams, and Arden Majors grabbed another W, beating a good Lincoln (D11) team 7-6. They'll now battle El Dorado Hills (D54) Saturday at 4:00 with the winner going to Monday's Championship Game!
Arden is D5's representative at 11u also, and they started their tournament tonight with a 12-5 loss to Land Park (D7). They'll need to win Saturday to stay alive, and they've got a 12:00 matchup against Tri-City (D11)
College Glen will be back at it at 11:30 Saturday in the Minors (8-10) tournament against either Tri City or West Sacramento.
Let's go D5!

Unfortunately there was no storybook ending today to yesterday's incredible comeback. Go check out yesterday's post to get caught up if you missed it, but Arden ended up falling in extra innings by the final score of 17-14 when the game resumed today.
Arden did manage to load the bases in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and the score tied, but couldn't push across the winning run. Turlock American then scored 3 times in the 8th, and Arden, despite loading the bases again in the bottom half of the inning, couldn't break through and complete the miracle. That loss knocks them out of the State Tournament.
All of us in District 5 are very proud of you winning the Section title and then going on to win three games at State, a very impressive run! So after playing games on SIX STRAIGHT DAYS in Turlock, you finally get to come home!
Another Arden team was in action tonight as the local Section tournaments got underway tonight. At Majors, Arden turned what was a close 2-0 game heading into the 4th into a not so close 19-3 win over Land Park (D7). An unfortunate draw has them right back in action Friday evening, as they'll now play Lincoln (D11) at 5:00 at Tri City LL in Rocklin.
In the Minors (8-10) Section Tournament, College Glen fell to Pocket (D7) in their opener tonight 8-2. They play again Saturday at 11:30 at Ponderosa LL in Cameron Park.
The Arden 11s get their Section Tournament started tomorrow against Land Park (D7) at 6:00 at Rio Linda LL.

If you didn't witness it, you might not believe it! But trust us when we say that our Arden Juniors were one out away from getting eliminated in the State Tournament by the host team Turlock American (D73) tonight, but then went on to score 7 runs ALL WITH 2 OUTS in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game! And the inning still isn't over. The game had to be called due to darkness, and will resume Thursday at 4:30, still with 2 outs and Arden having the potential winning run at 2nd base. Wow!
The winner will then turn right around and play Sunnyvale (D44) in the State Championship Game starting at 5:30 (and would have to win 2 games to win the tournament and advance to Regionals).
What an incredible story! But how will it end? We shall find out on Thursday. Good luck Arden!

Our Arden Little League Juniors just keep winning at the State Tournament down at Turlock American LL! After dropping the opener on Saturday, they've now won 3 games in a row on 3 straight days to stay alive!
Today, it was a 4-1 victory over Half Moon Bay (District 52), which followed a big 17-1 win over Visalia (District 34) yesterday. This means they've made it to the Semifinals tomorrow (Wednesday) night, where they'll play the loser of tonight's Sunnyvale vs Turlock American matchup. Keep it up, boys!
Closer to home, Section Tournaments get going on Thursday for Majors, 11s, and Minors (8-10).
MAJORS: Arden opens vs Land Park (D7) Thursday 5:00 at Tri City LL (Rocklin)
9-11: Arden opens vs Land Park (D7) Friday 6:00 at Rio Linda LL
MINORS: College Glen opens vs Pocket (D7) Thursday 5:30 at Ponderosa LL (Cameron Park)
College Glen will be District 5's representative in the Minors (8-10) tournament because Citrus Heights, the district winner, has schedule conflicts with many of their players and unfortunately won't have enough to field a team for the tournament. College Glen was the runner-up, falling to Citrus Heights in the championship game two weeks ago.
Good luck in Sections to all of our District 5 teams!

The Arden Little League Juniors began their State Tournament on Saturday with a pitcher's duel against Turlock American (District 73). The game was scoreless through 7 innings, but Turlock plated 3 in the top of the 8th and held on for a 3-1 victory.
Arden is right back at it today in an elimination game at 4:00 against Mill Valley (District 3). Good luck Arden!

District 5 is headed to State!
Congratulations to the Arden Little League Juniors who shut out Rio Linda tonight 14-0 to win the Section championship and earn their way into the State tournament which begins this Saturday in Turlock.
Arden had a dominant run through Sections, winning all three games by at least 10 runs! Good luck at State!
