Meet Cocoa Bean. Nine weeks old, rescued from the shelter, and already getting the best start we can give her. 🐾

Cocoa Bean came to us with an upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitis, both very common in shelter kittens. Their immune systems are still developing, and the stress of shelter life can tip things quickly.

We flushed her eyes with ozone saline to help clear the infection and reduce inflammation in the tissue. Then we set her up with nebulized ozonated glycerin.

Nebulization delivers a fine, gentle mist of ozonated glycerin to the nasal passages and respiratory tract. For a tiny kitten with congestion and irritation, this helps calm inflammation, support the immune response, and address infection without loading her little body up with heavy medications right out of the gate.

Cocoa Bean's family went home with an ozone glycerin nebulizer so they can continue her respiratory support between visits. Home care makes a real difference, especially in young kittens still building resilience.

She's already feeling better and breathing easier. πŸ’™πŸΎ

Natural does not always mean harmless.

Pet parents start supplementing Vitamin D because they've read about how important it is, and they're not wrong about its importance. But what often gets left out of the conversation is how easily Vitamin D can become dangerous when dosing isn't guided by bloodwork.

Vitamin D is fat-soluble. It doesn't pass through the body the way water-soluble vitamins do. It accumulates in tissue, and when levels climb too high, the consequences are serious. Kidney damage, calcium imbalances, vomiting, lethargy, and in severe cases it can be life-threatening.

The tricky part is there's no one-size-fits-all dose. What a 70-pound Labrador needs looks completely different from what a 9-pound cat on a raw diet requires. Even among dogs of similar size, individual health conditions can change how Vitamin D is metabolized and stored. Guessing doesn't work here.

I've seen well-meaning families cause real harm by giving supplements based on advice from the internet. Not because they were careless, but because nobody told them to test first. A 25(OH)D blood test is simple and inexpensive, and it removes all the guesswork.

This is something I feel strongly about in integrative medicine more broadly. Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's automatically safe. Good integrative care is precise and built on testing and clinical judgment tailored to each patient.

If you're considering a Vitamin D supplement for your pet, please talk to your vet and test first. It could save you a very stressful emergency visit. πŸΎπŸ’™

Ferret bath time πŸ’™

If you’ve ever bathed a ferret, you already know it can go one of two ways. Full cooperation or absolute chaos. Alvin here decided today was a cooperation day and honestly we were all quite relieved πŸ˜…

Ferrets have sensitive, oily skin and most conventional shampoos are far too harsh for them. Over-washing or using the wrong products strips natural oils, irritates the skin and can trigger a cycle where the body produces even more oil to compensate.

This is why so many ferret owners feel like the smell comes back worse after a bath.

Our foaming ozone shampoo was designed to be gentle enough for animals with delicate or reactive skin and it supports a healthier skin environment by working with the microbiome rather than wiping it out. For ferrets, this means reduced odor and less irritation between baths.

You don't need to bathe ferrets often. Once a month or so is usually enough when you're using the right product.

Meet Gouda and Buddha. Gouda is a Nigerian Dwarf goat and Buddha is a Pygmy goat, and today they both came in for some overdue toenail trimming and a good grooming session.

Hoof care in goats is one of those things people don't think about until there's a problem. Goats' toenails grow continuously, and when they get too long, the goat's weight shifts to compensate. Over time this puts abnormal stress on the joints and can lead to pain, difficulty walking, and postural changes. In older goats especially, overgrown hooves can accelerate joint problems and make existing arthritis significantly worse.

Regular trimming keeps the hoof at the correct angle so the goat can distribute their weight properly when they walk and stand. It also gives us a chance to check the hoof for signs of infection or injury before they become serious. Most goats need their hooves trimmed every six to eight weeks depending on the terrain they walk on. Harder ground wears the hoof down naturally, but goats on softer pasture or in pens will need more frequent attention.

Arthritis is more common in older goats than most pet parents realise. You might notice them lying down more or being reluctant to climb or jump on structures they used to love. Herbal medicine and joint supplements can make a real difference in keeping arthritic goats comfortable and mobile for longer, and catching it early gives you more options for managing it well.

Gouda and Buddha also got a thorough brushing today. Regular grooming helps with coat health, allows you to spot skin issues or parasites early, and most goats enjoy the attention once they're used to the routine.

Both of them left looking fresh and walking much more comfortably. πŸΎπŸ’™

Most arthritic pets I see are already on some form of pain management by the time they reach me. Usually NSAIDs, sometimes gabapentin, occasionally both. And while medication has its place, what concerns me is when it becomes the only strategy.

Pain medication manages how your pet feels but it doesn't change what's happening inside the joint. The inflammation continues, the cartilage continues to break down, and over time the dose often needs to go up.

Meanwhile, long-term NSAID use puts strain on the liver, kidneys, and gastrointestinal system, especially in older pets who may already have compromised organ function.

When I see an arthritic patient, I want to treat the joint directly. Ozone acupuncture injections deliver medical-grade ozone into the area surrounding the affected joint, where it reduces inflammatory load and improves tissue oxygenation so the body's own regenerative processes can engage.

I combine this with electroacupuncture for nerve regulation and pain control alongside laser therapy and chiropractic adjustments. The approach depends on the individual patient, but the principle is to give the body what it needs to heal rather than only managing the discomfort.

The connection between indoor air quality and respiratory health in pets doesn't get enough attention. We spend a lot of time talking about diet, exercise, and preventive care, but the air inside your home is something your pet is exposed to every single minute of the day. And for a lot of pets with chronic coughing, wheezing, or recurrent respiratory flare-ups, this is exactly where the trigger lives.

What makes this tricky is how normalized fragranced products have become. A plug-in air freshener running in the hallway doesn't register as a potential health risk because it's been there for months and everyone's used to it. But your pet's lungs haven't adapted to it. They've just been absorbing it. Cats in particular are at higher risk because their livers metabolize volatile compounds much less efficiently than dogs, so repeated exposure carries a very different level of consequence.

The change worth making is simple. Instead of adding fragrance to mask odors, eliminate the odors at the source. Ozone air purification does this at a molecular level and then reverts to oxygen, leaving no residue on surfaces or lingering compounds in the air. For homes with asthmatic pets or cats with sensitive airways, removing the chemical burden from their breathing space can make a noticeable clinical difference alongside whatever treatment plan your vet has in place.

For pets with active respiratory inflammation, nebulized ozonated glycerin is a tool I use to support the airways directly. It reduces microbial burden and helps calm inflammation in the respiratory tract, and with the right guidance, many pet parents can incorporate it at home.

This is Zoe. She's a Golden Retriever who had a tumor removed today, and what you're seeing here is what happened right after.

Once the tumor was out, we infused medical-grade ozone gas directly underneath the incision line before closing. This does two important things. It helps manage inflammation at the surgical site, and it creates an environment where infection is far less likely to take hold during the critical early healing window.

Most pet parents don't realize how much of the healing process is determined by what happens in the first hours after surgery. The tissue is vulnerable because it's been cut and sutured.

Introducing ozone at this stage floods the area with oxygen, which supports the body's own repair process right when it matters most.

Integrative surgery goes beyond just removing the problem. We're also focused on giving the body the best possible conditions to recover from the procedure itself.

Zoe did beautifully and is resting comfortably tonight. πŸ’™πŸΎ

I see a version of this story regularly. A pet comes in with chronic skin issues, itching, ear infections, or excessive paw licking. They've been on multiple rounds of medication. Sometimes Apoquel, sometimes Cytopoint, sometimes both. The symptoms improve for a while and then come right back.

The frustrating part for these families is they're doing everything their vet recommends. The medication is working exactly as designed. But it's working on the surface while the deeper driver stays untouched.

In many of these patients, when I look at the gut, it’s clear the microbiome is disrupted. Harmful biofilm has built up along the intestinal lining, creating an environment where pathogenic bacteria persist and beneficial bacteria can't establish themselves.

This keeps the immune system locked in a reactive state, and the skin becomes the place where all of it shows up.
MBRT, Microbiome Restorative Therapy, is how I approach this. Medical ozone therapy is used first to break down biofilm in the gut. Ozone disrupts these protective layers pathogens create, exposing them so they can be cleared.

Once the gut environment is prepared, a f***l microbiome transplant introduces healthy, diverse bacteria from a proven donor. The transplanted bacteria can colonize properly because the biofilm is no longer blocking them.

The immune system can only regulate itself when the gut gives it the right signals. MBRT with medical ozone gives the gut the reset it needs.

If your pet's allergies have never responded well to medication alone, DM us to learn how adding MBRT and medical ozone can bring lasting change. πŸΎπŸ’™

🐾 Tulyp gets a weekly re**al medical ozone treatment as part of her long-term wellness plan to support her mobility and overall health.

It’s also one of the therapies I rely on most in my practice because it’s safe, well tolerated, and effective for both prevention and recovery.
Pet Parents can learn to do this for their fur babies at home!!l

Re**al insufflation allows medical ozone to be absorbed gently through the intestinal lining, giving systemic benefits without invasive procedures. It’s safe, well tolerated, and powerful for:

πŸ’™ Restoring balance in the gut and breaking down harmful biofilm
πŸ’™ Supporting detoxification, liver function, and metabolic health
πŸ’™ Boosting circulation and oxygenation throughout the body
πŸ’™ Modulating the immune system to fight infection and inflammation
πŸ’™ Helping during cancer care, GI illness, and chronic disease

I use this method for animals facing serious diagnoses, but also as a preventative tool to maintain resilience once healing has begun. For Tulyp, it’s part of what keeps her strong, mobile, and thriving after such a difficult start in life.

By reaching the bloodstream through the gut, medical ozone helps detoxify, oxygenate, and give cells the support they need to repair.
