Website https://shellie.andersoncoaching.com/ There is a picture of me in a stocking just days after my birth, and for years I was convinced that I was actually born inside of that stocking. I remember when I was a little girl that I was o
bsessed with the movie “Annie.” I dressed up like her, red curly wig and all, sang, danced, and pretended to be her. I think one of the reasons I really liked this movie was that Annie didn’t have the ideal childhood. She struggled with wanting to feel like she belonged to a family that could be hers forever. As a little girl, I connected with that. My parents struggled in their marriage from the time I was very young, and they divorced by the time I was 13 years old. This created a strong desire in me to learn more about what actually makes a marriage work . . . and what actually makes a marriage incredible. Growing up I developed a passion for dance. In the 4th grade, I decided to create “Grease 3” where I gave parts to my friends, made up songs and dances, and my teacher even let us perform in front of the class! I continued to dance through high school and junior college where I received both Best Dancer and Best Choreographer of the Year awards. When I transferred to Utah Valley University, I decided to major in Dance and fell in love with the Fundamentals of Movement and Creative Movement courses. I was dancing 6-8 hours a day! And then, I put it all on hold to follow the internal promptings to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I taught the principles of gospel doctrine to the people of Houston, Texas, for 1 ½ year, and count it as one of the best experiences of my life. When I returned home, I transferred to BYU and felt the need to switch my major in order to continue to help more people. "So, I switched my major to Marriage, Family, and Human Development. Classes such as Marriage Prep, Marriage Enhancement, Changes in the Family, Work in the Family, and Family Economics seemed to fill me with more excitement and more knowledge on how to make a marriage incredible." Meeting My Husband and Becoming a Therapist
My husband and I went to high school together in Southern California, and years later we were married in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple. Although I struggled with infertility issues; we now have 5 children, two of which are adopted. My husband’s job has moved us around quite a bit, but we are now settled in Northern California. When we first moved here, I quickly felt the urge to go back to school and get a Master's degree to become a Family Therapist. I remember as I researched the different program types that the purpose of the degree was to improve relationships. The thought “improve your relationships . . . improve your life” ran through my mind and became a motto for me. I eagerly started the program and absorbed as much information as possible, diving in with both feet. Halfway through the program, I felt a little frustrated, and that something was missing for me. So I put it on pause for a while. A couple of years later, I had lunch with a friend of mine, and she started talking to me about her Life Coaching business. It really piqued my interest. Soon enough, I was enrolled at the Life Coach School. "I went through their incredible training program and got double certified as a Life Coach and a Weight Loss Coach. I found that the techniques I learned helped my own marriage become even more incredible." I grew up being taught to be virtuous, but without too much explanation about what that would actually look like through the different stages of my life. What does it mean to be virtuous as a little girl, a teenager, a young adult, and a married woman? I kind of grew up thinking that s*x was a bad thing since not many people seemed to talk about it on good terms. Mainly, I heard “don’t behave in certain ways,” “don’t give boys the wrong idea” and “don’t have s*x until you’re married.” That is a lot of “don’ts” when it comes to intimacy. Most of us don’t take a class on how to change our perspective from don’t do it, to go ahead and do it, and enjoy it, once we get married. To make things even more complicated, some negative things often happen to us girls growing up that only add to the challenges of intimacy. But even with all of this, it is totally possible to have the marriage you want, and it is totally possible to enhance the intimate side of you. If you have ever thought, “I’m just not like that,” “I’m not very s*xy,” “I don’t really care too much about s*x,” or “this is mainly just for my husband anyway,” . . . don’t worry. This is a totally normal response to the way we have been raised, and the struggle with it is a totally normal part of our experience. We are meant to be challenged . . . and being challenged in marriage and intimacy issues are all part of what we are here to experience, learn from, and grow from. "Too often, we don’t even realize that we are the ones holding ourselves back from the incredible marriage that we desire. And when we hold ourselves back, we hold our marriage back. But as your LDS Love and Life Coach, I can help you through that. You don’t have to stay stuck where you are anymore." My Passion for Life Coaching
I am totally passionate about helping women create a feeling of connection to themselves, and in response, a connection to their husbands. I especially love taking on the very difficult, yet very important, the topic of intimacy in marriage. While the world continues to decline in morals, and the intimacy between husband and wife is challenged in all kinds of ways, I continue to regard it as something sacred and special. I love being able to show women that you can keep all of your strong values intact and still enhance your intimacy. You don’t have to resort to watching po*******hy together or exploring deviant s*xual rituals to increase intimacy in marriage. The way you think about intimacy has a lot to do with the difficulties you are facing, and the way you are NOT thinking about intimacy has, even more, to do with the solutions you are not yet accessing! That is exactly where I come in. I truly love to listen to how a wife thinks and approaches her marriage. I love the challenge of helping women unlock their own thinking . . . it is so empowering! "Helping women create the connections in their marriage they long for is what I am meant to do." I absolutely love working with women who value marriage and want to have an incredible life with their husbands. Sometimes you may feel tired, overwhelmed, alone, always falling a bit short, and like you often don’t have as much control over the outcomes of your life as you would like. If that sounds like you, then you are my favorite kind of person to work with!!! I want to show you all that you can create and accomplish for yourself and for your marriage. As we talk 1-on-1, I can help you uncover what is holding you back from wanting to be intimate with your husband more . . . and that is truly incredible!
